Torture - The Art Of Forced Information Extraction
Do you think that torture is okay under these circumstances? The kind of torture I am referring to is to keep someone in a room and use various devices, tools, methods and pain to make them give information (Truth?). Sometimes if pushed too far it can lead to death, but torture is geared towards pain.
- To get info to solve a crime
- To find a bomb that will kill one person
- To find a bomb that will kill 10,000 people
- To stop hunger in a country.

*To get info to solve a crime
I don't think torturing someone will get any kind of information on a crime no matter how horrible the crime. The person being tortured may just end up dying or something like that before they would reveal anything.
*To find a bomb that will kill one person
If the person that is being tortured is the person who set the bomb, this person may not want to tell anything. No matter what kind of torture this person was to endure. (i.e. a crazy terrorist)
*To find a bomb that will kill 10,000 people
I just don't know about this one. Like if the person they are torturing is like one of those crazy terrorists, they wouldn't tell where the bomb would be.
*To stop hunger in a country
I don't see where torturing someone to stop hunger will solve anything. But then again, I guess it would depend on if it was some kind of person in authority that is keeping the country without food.

I will probably shock you all with my opinion, :o but I think torture is fine if it is being used to acquire information and not as punishment.
I believe, as a matter of fact, that it is known to work effectively when done by professionally trained people. They do exist.
Not all torture is thumb screws and beatings. Sleep deprivation is a very effective form of torture.

Tenaheff, I hope we are never enemies and I am captured by you. I actually cannot begin to comprehend having as an occupation the tasks of making someone suffer / feel pain. Such people I am sure may have been the results of inflicted pain or abuse of some form?

I am not sure the torture I am talking would inflict "Pain" like beatings, but discomfort like lack of sleep and thirst and hunger. This is a tactic I believe interrogators use. I don't think they really call it torture, but I believe technically it is a form of it.
As for us being enemies, not to worry, I am al talk. I couldn't hurt a flea. Although, I did serve in the United States Marine Corps when I was younger. .
