"Eureka!" Zenobia shouts. She starts laughing with excitement. She takes the lot of gold pieces and the three rubies and put them in her bag while keeping an eye at the same time on the hostage.
"By Zeus!", what's inside of this the leather case she asks herself? and suddenly shouts to the hostage saying...
"Is the scroll in here? Answer me if you don't want me to make a red sea out of yourself!".
The hostage begs to say that he does not know, but asks that you open it. Zenobia opens it with caution and she sees the same symbols Greaves described on a scroll within. Zenobia feels very relieved and now over joyed. The thoughts of 'what next' comes to her mind as she looks around the room.
GM: Your go.
"Finally!" Zenobia shouts in excitment as takes the scroll and puts it carefully in her sack. She then starts checking also the other victims of her slaughter to see if they have something that may be useful for her. She's thinking what to do with the hostages. The man in the boss' room said the truth and she ponders the 'good' within her to let him live for keeping his word.
She checks Lupus body and finds some useful items, some of which she takes. Making sure that the man is well bound and gaged once more she salutes him with a big smile on her face as she exits the room heading back up passed the intersection and into the first cave. She sees that the two men are still well bound and the first hostage that was hit over the head is now concious. She checks these men and the ones that are dead and really finds nothing of use. Around the room is a few gold pieces that the men were gambling with and you add it to your sack. You look around the room and then from behind one wall peer outside to see if anything is waiting. You see nothing and hear nothing unusual. With sword drawn you make your way outside and see the night sky, two moons and stars still casting its glow on the ground where you are. You look for your horse. It is still there to your great relief as you sigh. You are burdened by all the 'extra' items you have collected. You walk down the path of the mountain with your horse still searching for any 'company' that may be around.
At the bottom of the mountain you get on your horse and start riding North West back to the village. You know that you cannot ride at full gallop since your horse already had a day of that. It will take you all night, but you intend to not stop for fear of being caught or overtaken.
Early Morning at Greaves
You stop at a point nearing the village to give your horse a break from its' intense labor. You take the time to count your gold pieces and estimate that it is probably more than 1000 pieces. Your mind immediately races with thoughts of what you can buy with that kind of gold. After a brief rest, feeding your horse some of your rations and drink from your waterskin you arrive at Greaves home around Sunrise which in Medieval always happens around 5:30am. You are very tired, but you knock on the door.
As usual the door opens and there stands Greaves with suprised eyes as he sees your bloody clothes.
"Well?" Says Greaves as he puts his hands on his large waist.
Zenobia takes out the leather case with the scroll from her sack and hands it to Greaves. Greaves takes it with excitement and opens it like a man who has not eatten for several days and the leather case contained a feast. He pulls out the scroll and reads hurriedly while comparing a rring on his finger to that of the scroll.
"Perfect!" Where is the rest of the group and the woman called Kagan?
Zenobia remembers that the last he saw were five of you and now only you appear with the scroll. Greaves peers from right to left as though he were looking for something and then looks at you straight in the eyes, he is waiting for an answer.
Zenobia replies in an authoritative tone...
"Ummmm....some of them are dead and others were to frighten to continue. I'm the only one remaining and I did the whole job all by myself! Here is your scroll . Now I want my reward please."
Greaves raises one eyebrow and immediately hands you a pouch containing what looks like 100 gold pieces. To this he adds...
"Check me again, see if I have more work for you."
Greaves backs into his hut and the door closes. You are glad that it over and you now journey back to the village dismounted so as to not strain your horse anymore, but then you suddenly realize, it is not your horse.
GM: Decide if you want to take the horse back and pay the lender your dues. You may now feel free to buy other things in the market and then go back to your abode to evaluate your mission and experience.
Zenobia excited with her small fortune takes the horse back to Loric and pays him the 60 gold pieces as agreed. Loric is happy to receive his money so quickly. Although tired, Zenobia's blood thirsts for the things she could not have before. She has in her sack 1,060 gold pieces and she plans to go to the market right away. After buying a considerable amount of things she goes to her humble abode. Many watch her blood stained clothes and whisper to themselves. They also notice how she spends money graciously. With this new found glory comes popularity, but you are unsure if it is making you famous or infamous. You are also unsure where you will keep a wagoon and two horses since you have no room for such in your own home. You already consider moving to another part of the village or even out of it, but that is another day and another adventure of its own...
Congratulations. You have finished the scenario called, The Scroll. Over the next few days you discover that you have gained a level of experience and have gone up in health, and in soul*. You also evaluate the things that you have done and not done so well.
