Gov. Rick Scott started his day bright and early at NAS Jacksonville for his third "Let's Get to Work Day."
Modeled after events held by former Gov. and U.S. Sen. Bob Graham, they feature Scott doing everyday jobs. Today he will be working the base's front gate, working on a engines, and doing a round with the drug sniffing dogs.
His other workday events were at a Tampa-area donut shop, and working in the cafeteria at an Orange County school.

John Thrasher honored by FSU faculty

Sen. John Thrasher, R - St. Augustine, received the Torch Award for Vires from the Florida State University Faculty Senate Wednesday.
Vires is Latin for strength.
"I am truly honored to receive such a prestigious award from my Alma Mater," Thrasher said in a statement.
"We are grateful for Senator Thrasher's contribution to the academic excellence of our university and we commend you for your loyalty and enthusiasm to support and strengthen our academic program," said Valliere Richard Auzenne, chair of the Torch Awards Committee.

Jobs plan: Rick Scott's return to seven

Gov. Rick Scott really likes the number seven.

While rolling out Gov. Rick Scott's legislative agenda to members of a House panel Wednesday evening, a budget staffer was briefly grilled on questions surrounding Scott's biggest campaign promise.
Rep. Jim Waldman, D - Coconut Creek, followed up on recent reports that Scott now says his much touted 7-7-7 plan to create 700,000 jobs over seven years would not do so above normal growth. He told reporters recently that the plan was to create 700,000 jobs regardless of outside factors, which was a claim PolitiFact deemed a flip-flop.

Poll: Mitt Romney up in Florida; Herman Cain leading North/Central area of state

After polling well in and assuming a front runner-type status in recent weeks, a CNN/Time/ORC poll out Wednesday has GOP presedential candidate Herman Cain trailing Mitt Romney 30-18 in Florida. Coming in second and third were Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich, with both getting 9 percent.
