Gunman Killed After Opening Fire At School Meeting
Good work Mr. Jones! I think the fact that he was a former police officer made the whole difference. I am glad the shooter didn't seriously harm anyone. What a terrible situation for all those involved!
QUOTE A gunman opened fire at a Bay County, Fla., school board meeting Tuesday afternoon, taking aim at the school's superintendent but injuring no one before a security guard fatally shot him, a school board spokeswoman said.
The gunman, who has yet to be identified publicly, fired a small handgun and was stopped by the quick action of Mike Jones, a former Panama City police officer who now serves as security official at the board meetings.
"Thank God for Mike Jones," board spokeswoman Karen Tucker told FoxNews.com. "When he saw the shooter, he just came running -- guns blazing. It could have been bad."
The gunman was barely alive when police reached him, and he died from gunshot wounds upon arrival at a nearby hospital, said Ruth Corley, a spokeswoman from the Bay County Sheriff Office.
