After four weeks of toil, let there be the Holiday of Lights
For Oscar Mendoza and 15 other Del Mar Fairgrounds employees, the end of October marks the start of their own traditional four-week task: setting up the Holiday of Lights, now in full swing in its 16th year. Unlike most other 300-plus annual events on the property, including the County Fair, the Holiday of Lights, with its estimated 99,500 bulbs and 400 displays, is produced entirely in-house. Ref. That will be one heck of an electric bill when they're all done and was it worth it. I guess if you have a lot of money you can do anything but if not save your money and give it to someone in need during Christmas might be wiser?
