Jehovah

This Thread will be used to examine the Mormon interpretation for the word(s) / name(s) called "Jehovah" from the scriptures. What does Jehovah mean in the literal sense and in scripture as Mormons know it?

Mormon definition of Jehovah.

In Mormon theology "Jehovah" refers to Jesus Christ. It is the name He was known by in the Old Testament.

With reference to Jesus... 1Corinthians 15:27-28

Why do I need to support what I said from just the Bible? This is a basic LDS doctrine belief and we have more than one source of scripture. I don't ever remember us having to support claims about the nature of Jehovah based on one book or JW beliefs.

You can use all the sources you like, as long as they are in harmonious agreement with the Bible.
Otherwise claimed belief in the Bible would be suspect.
In reference to the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

You seem to have a dull understanding of this Board. This is not just Bible Discussion but Mormon Doctrine therefore nothing has to be harmonious with Jehovah Witness beliefs nor can you demand that it should be.

international QUOTE (Read Me Thread)
First of all I need to emphasize this from the description:

"For Latter-Day Saint members ONLY. Discuss the higher doctrines that build faith. No anti, negative or unrelated content allowed. Think of this board as a classroom - not a venting station."

LDS Members are here to Discuss their beliefs:

To avoid giving extra work to the moderators and admin please make sure your post fits this section;

1. This board is for LDS based doctrine only! If you want to talk about books, spiritual men or other theories that are not part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints then please use the Religious Beliefs and Traditions board.

Therefore, you can ask questions and share thoughts based on LDS Doctrine but you cannot tell Members what LDS Sources they can use or how it must harmonize with your beliefs. That is like telling a Muslim he cannot quote from the Quran because it might not harmonize with Jehovah Witness beliefs - that is not what this Board is for. Hence the reason why in the Bible Revealed Board there is a rule that LDS Doctrine or Sources cannot be used in Discussion there. This Community has a place for everything - you are required to respect that as a Member here.

Now to keep on Topic here is what the LDS Bible Dictionary says on the Topic:

international QUOTE
Jehovah

Jehovah. The covenant or proper name of the God of Israel. It denotes the "Unchangeable One," 'the eternal I Am" (Ex. 6:3; Ps. 83:18; Isa. 12:2; 26:4). The original pronunciation of this name has possibly been lost, as the Jews, in reading, never mentioned it, but substituted one of the other names of God, usually Adonai. Probably it was pronounced Jahveh, or Yahveh. In the KJV, the Jewish custom has been followed, and the name is generally denoted by Lord or God, printed in small capitals.

Jehovah is the premortal Jesus Christ and came to earth being born of Mary (see Mosiah 13:28; 15:1; 3 Ne. 15:1-5; D&C 110:1-10).

And for those who want to know how UtahMormon said what he did:

international QUOTE (LDS Bible Dictionary)
Although Ex. 6:3 states that the God of Israel was not known by the name Jehovah before Moses" time, latter-day revelation tells us otherwise (Abr. 1:16; 2:8; cf. JST Ex. 6:3; see also Gen. 22:14).
