Esa Lonka, the Finnish government's labour market arbitrator, was quoted as saying by national daily Helsingin Sanomat on Monday that both labour market sides were all too keen to abandon pay and conditions talks and to head to his office instead. Lonka told the paper that unions and employers' representatives nowadays tended to present themselves at his door in order to launch pay and conditions talks."One should have one's homework done and mutual talks completed before showing up here only if there are things that one has not made progress on," Lonka was quoted as saying.
