Group retries to remove "Christ" from La Jolla festival
For the second time in five years, a San Diego community group has been asked to take "Christ" out of its signature Christmas event. The La Jolla Town Council is resisting the push for more inclusive name. Ref. Source 8
Isn't Christmas a religious holiday? Why do they want to change the name cause then that means they can change the name of Jewish and Muslim holidays too?
It seems pretty silly. Christmas is already so commercial that I doubt many people even notice the word "Christ." If they REALLY wanted to take Christ out of it, and I mean fundamentally, they should attempt to increase the commercialism and promote Santa. Although, I somehow suspect that these people may be the same ones who take issue with capitalism as well...

Comments: After celebrating Christmas in 2010 my family and I decided that we weren't going to be trapped with all the buying of gifts and decorating. We are going on a vacation to get away from American spend trends and go some place where we can reflect more on Christ. We also plan some projects to make it happen to so its not all lip service. The kids haven't taken us seriously yet but they will when I show them the camper when school breaks in December.
