The Hurt Locker
An amazingly close to reality film about life for soldiers in Iraq**. The focus is on special bomb unit soldiers that risk their lives every day. The one factor that makes this movie stand out is that it slows time in certain situations to make you feel as though you are there. There is no rush to get to 'Act II' just so the viewer is constantly involved in something new - I love the way that was done.
** I say it is close to reality, but I'm not a soldier in Iraq, I can only assume from reports that it is like this. It will be good to have soldiers who actually served in Iraq who have also seen this movie verify how realistic it is.

Hurt Locker email controversy
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is considering action against a producer of The Hurt Locker who sent multiple emails urging academy members to vote for his movie in the Oscar best-picture race and "not a US$500 million film" - an obvious reference to close-competitor Avatar. This was better than I expected the movie is true to the war situation like JB siad but then again I'm not there to vouch for it. As for the emails the producer was just too excited and started to get greedy and that might of cost him. Good films aren't always about budget.
