So understanding the article right, New Zealand now has not air combat force at all? That seems like a bad idea in todays day and age. The hundred and fifty-five million dollars seems like a small amount in exchange for your countries ability to fend off an air attack. I suppose they know what they are doing, but I doubt I would have made the same decision if I was in their shoes.

Comments: Being a very small island in the Pacific Ocean along with having good connections and ties with Australia, UK and USA the NZ government saw no need to keep such an old jet fighter fleet when we can call on other countries in the very unlikely event that an air strike does occur. And in "this day and age" we do not need a strike force. The USA does, but only because they are powerful and start all the wars.
