How Do We Know Christianity Is The Right Religion? - Page 3

<< This is a little confusing to me. I *do* understand and believe the concept of "saving grace" which entitles everyone to victory over death. >>

But I am talking about more than death. I am talking about victory in every struggle we have to obey God's laws here on earth--the struggle to become more righteous in our actions and thoughts. You can't know God's power until you first know that you are incapable of doing anything good apart from Him. Only when you surrender to this fact of reality (both experience and scriptural), can you make room for God to flex that resurrection power. When you see it, you will believe because you will know undoubtedly that God is with you, in you.

<< If there is no effort required, why did God give the world the 10 commandments? >>

He didn't give the Ten Commandments to the gentiles. He gave it to the Jews. Now, the Ten Commandment covenant is not available as a means of relating to God, for either group of peoples.

"the power of sin is the law." 1 cor 15:56 "so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God." rom 3:19 "What then, is the purpose of the law? It was added because of transgressions" gal 3:19 "now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law." gal 3:25 "The law was not made for the righteous, but for lawbreakers." 1 tim 1:9 The reason why we are dead to law is because the law resurrects the sinful nature, and our bondage to it. We are not perfect, and there is no way we will ever be. So we need to be freed from its demands. Rom 8:2-4 "because through Christ Jesus the law of the spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And he condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us". Regarding how we relate to the first and last covenants, it says that about Jesus that "He set aside the first to establish the second. And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." heb 10:9-10 So the Ten Commandments have been set aside. The Ten Commandments and all the Prophets can be summed by the greatest commandment. We are not subject to its demand any longer. The demand has been met, the ransom has been paid. We are free. "The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming--not the realities themselves." Heb 10:1 The reality that we seek is found in Jesus, himself the person. In his body, we have the ability to live for God and finally serve him, just one aspect of a relationship founded on friendship, which was achieved at a price "it pleased the Lord to bruise Him" isaiah 53:10. "Mercy triumphs over judgment!" james 2:13.

<< Believing is not the same as acting on that belief. >>

I believe that it is. Where there is faith there is always works; isn't that what James 2 says?

This "seal" that is mentioned in Rom 4:11 is an oath by God. It means a pledge or guarantee of full payment. Gen. 38:15 "'Will you give me something as a pledge until you send it?' she asked. He said, 'What pledge should I give you?' 'Your seal and its cord, and the staff in your hand,' she answered." "Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." 2 cor 5:5 "He annointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come." 2 cor 1:22

Now, understanding the role of the seal given by God, let's read again what rom 4:11 says about what God did to Abraham: "Was it after circumcision, or before? It was not after, but before! And he received the sign of circumcision, the seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised." So even though Abraham did not obey the command for circumcision until later, Abraham was considered obedient to that law not because of anything Abraham had done besides have faith, but because God set his promise of a guarantee on him, and the promise was for fulfillment of the whole righteousness that works brings to complete the faith. God's seal is an oath by God that works will be carried out by men who have only a righteous faith. Faith is the fulfillment of all laws and their required works, hence the "guarantee". We receive a sign of works in the flesh those of us with faith, and the sign is the Holy Spirit, dwelling within them, prodding them toward God.

Now if God promises something, what are the chances that it will not happen? By faith I say that those chances are zero. For me, knowing that it is impossible to serve God without His Spirit, is a relief, because it is not about my performance any longer. "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." "My burden is light." Faith alone, is a light burden. And even faith is given to us (eph 2:8-9, Acts 18:27) as a gift; unearned and undeserved. This is the way I experience God from the first moment, up until this day, and I do not think it will change. Only when I come to the end of myself, is God given room to do a miracle, to flex his muscles. I live by God's power. "For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last" rom 1:17. All of my needs in this life and in heaven are met, actually my cup runneth over, by His grace [undeserved favor]. I receive my answers and my help by faith, by a faith that is alone. My works have nothing to do with it. Works are a reflection of how God has shown me His kindness "it is His kindness that leads you to repentance" rom 2:4

Religion The Christianity We How

Name: Jovanna

Comments: I believe that Jesus is the Christ who was an earthly form of God whom was sacrificed for our sins! I know that I know he is the only way In other religions you are save by works meaning if you do something bad you can justify it by doing good! In Christianity you just have to believe 1st admit that you are a sinner and then ask The Lord Jesus Christ to enter your heart! I feel bad for people who are highly opinionated about religion because it boils down to this is not your earth or world and when you die this is surely not the end of life....we are eternal creatures we just die and leave this earth.. So where do you think you will go when you die and Heaven is Gods kingdom and Jesus is the only way to it! Christianity is not a group although that is what people make it seem like it is a true relationship with God to follow after Christ who knew not sin! This is so amazing to me that he paid the price but people still want to suffer! I t is not easy neither in the book of Ephesians it talks about how we battle with the flesh..its like we have our own enemy right inside of us!
So to all who disagrees with Christianity and was presented to Salvation..you too will be held accountable for rejecting the free gift of eternal life! Also for the ones who claim to be Christian who do not abide by the word shall not inherit the kingdom of God Jesus said if you love me then keep my commandments! Ephesians 5:6, I Corinthian 9:6

How Do We Know Christianity Is The Right Religion? Revealed Bible The

Comments: What frustrates me so much in Christianity and religion in general is this cocky arrogant undertone which implies that we as Christians know whats going on. I think that is completely absurd to speak so pridefully that you "know" what is in the afterlife or that there even is an eternity. Just as someone put it before, it is all faith-based. Thus bringing me to my main problem with all this: If people are to forsake factual evidence and knowledge for uncertain speculation, the purpose would only be for selfish ends and desires. To escape from reality. To hope for the unknown. I don't even know what I'm trying to get at anymore because my mind is racing now, but I still would like an answer to the first question proposed which no one was able to answer: Why is Christianity correct? Thank you.

Comments: Well faith that a christian possesses in him or herself is not considered to be blind faith at all but it is a faith that is built upon solid evidence that archaeologist, scientist, astronomers, and the like, are running into nothing but facts that do line up in accordance with the bible. So I will give an example of a chair that does not look to strong to sit upon. If I had blind faith and said to myself that this chair will hold me even though I see it to be unstable then I would collapse and fall because I did not examine the chair before putting my faith in it. What I am trying to say is that I do put my faith and believe and know that Christianity is the right relationship or bond or religion to the creator because of the fact that all that is written and the promises that are made in scripture are based on solid physical evidence, and spiritual evidence and all things line up with truth. Most humans will not accept these teachings because they put their pleasures over the principles that God has set for all mankind since the beginning so therefore man will live with just created things that are seen ,so he can do what he pleases, rather then living with the creator who is unseen thus they become their own Gods which will lead to decay and destruction which is the fate of man who rely on created things only rather then the creator himself.

Update: In addition to what I previously stated I must say that mostly all religion does make a human being a better person in the way he or she conducts his or herself in everyday life. The only difference is that in all those religions every leader who has established that religion returned back to the dust where he or she came from and was swallowed up by death. But their is one leader whose name is Jesus, in whom Christianity derived from, who's body did not remain in the dust but was resurrected by the power of God thus proving himself to be the son of God in this way. Not only that but he fulfilled over several hundred prophecies that was foretold about him hundreds of years before his birth. The Jews and Romans put to death or tried to, anyone who believed that Jesus rose from the dead and claimed to be the son of God in this way. If the disciples back then made up a lie that they saw the resurrected Christ then Christianity would not be here to this day because they knew that it would cost them their lives and their family's lives. A lot of them were so convinced in their hearts that Jesus rose from the dead, because they saw him, that they were put to death after being tortured severely. It is hard to believe that many would die or put their kids lives at stake for a lie. But for the truth I can see that to be possible. Thus by this I can confidently also say that Christianity is the result of Jesus Christ and it is the right religion which will make you prosper in this life and the next.

Comments: Christianity is the right religion I feel because Christians most of them have a personal relationship with god, and as well have heard him speak. Most Muslims and Jews I have spoken to think we're nuts? Why? It's obvious they can't comprehend that you can have a personal strong bond with god. Muslims pray because there force to 5 times a day. Christian pray when we need guidance and comfort from god. Also we offer modern and fun worship at churches and have bible studies in social groups to strengthen our relationship with god and Jesus Christ. Muslims and Jews tend to have out dated and old worship techniques, and make god seem like he's this strict mean god who will darn you to hell if you don't cover your hair, or pray 5 times a day or eat pork. I don't know about you but believing in a loving forgiving god sounds a lot better to me.

Comments: It isn't because Jews and Christians change stuff if the Bible. however Islam there is only one copy. If you get ten million Korans they will all say the same thing. Second thing is Islam is the latest religion. For example when a new video game from a series comes out everyone would want the latest game. That is why Islam is the correct religion.

How We Christianity The Religion - Page 3

In the bigger universe and with everything considered how do you know Christianity is the correct religion? For instance if I were born in Pakistan I would like have been born in a Muslim home learning about Islam and Christianity would have been as foreign to me as Islam is to some of you. I am not Muslim just in case you're thinking that. This applies to any religion. Someone in Tibet would likely know about Buddhism for instance. Some of these people in these lands go all their life learning about some belief that is not Christianity and they are good people, they think what they are doing is correct. Their religious books and priests teach that their way is correct. So how can you say automatically that Christianity is the right an all others are wrong?

Title: Right Religion

Comments: How Do We Know What Religion is Right?
No religion is "right" in and of itself. The Bible is about man's relationship with God, the right way and the wrong way. Any religion that is totally consistent with the Bible's teaching is right. Any with teaching that is counter to the Bible is wrong.

So the reliability of the Bible as a guideline is vital. As indicated, the original biblical manuscripts are a miracle in and of themselves. Evidence of reliability, includes: (1) and explosion of credible, corroborative writing, (2) verifiable at the time by eyewitnesses, (3) with eyewitnesses dying for testimony they could affirm to be true, and (4) with many other people, able to know historical facts, also dying for the same beliefs. If the New Testament is true, then the Old Testament is also broadly verified by Jesus (Luke 16:16,17) by over 700 cross-references, by the Dead Sea Scrolls evidence, and by "mathematical proof" of hundreds of prophecies.

A problem arises when man starts changing or adding to the Bible. Several things would indicate that such inspiration is not from God. First, the Bible commands us not to add to, delete, or change it (Revelation 22:18,19). Secondly, Jesus verified it would not change (Luke 16:17). And third, why would a perfect God change His original, perfect Word? The Bible is very clear that the path to heaven is defined as Christs:

John 14:6-9 Matthew 27:51-53 John 3:16 Ephesians 2:8
Acts 4:12 Colossians 1:15-23 John 6:48-58 Hebrews 10:26-31

Avoiding false gods - The Bible warns against the following false gods:
- A god that is not a single God of the universe (Having no peers - including man) is not the God of the
Bible (1 Timothy 2:5; Isaiah 44:6).
- A god not manifest as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit is not the God of the Bible
(Luke 12:8-10; John 1:1,2,14; Acts 5:3,4).
- A god that does not proclaim Jesus Christ as the ultimate sacrifice for redemption of those committing
Themselves to Him, is not the God of the Bible (Matthew 27:51-53; Mark 14:24; John 6:48-58; Acts
4:12; Colossians 1:15-23).

How Can We Ensure the Right Relationship to Go to Heaven?

When Jesus said not all who use His name will enter heaven (Matthew 7:21-23), He was referring to people who think using Christ's name along with rituals and rules is the key to heaven. A relationship with God is not based on rituals or rules. It's based on grace, forgiveness, and the right relationship.

How to Have a Personal Relationship with God

1. Believe that God exists and that He came to earth in the human form of Jesus Christ (John 3:16;
Romans 10:9).
2. Accepts God's free forgiveness of sins through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (Ephesians
2:8-10; 1:7,8).
3. Switch to God's plan for life (1 Peter 1:21-23; Ephesians 2:1-5).
4. Express a desire for Christ to be Director of your life (Matthew 7:21-27; 1 John 4:15).

People who sincerely take the preceding steps automatically become members of God's family of believers. A new world of freedom and strength is then available through prayer and obedience to God's will. New believers also can build their relationship with God by taking the following steps:

- Find a Bible-based church that you like, and attend regularly.
- Try to set aside some time each day to pray and read the Bible.
- Locate other Christians to spend time with on a regular basis.
