What Will The Damned Say In The End?

Have you ever wondered what excuses or statements a damned person will say when they are brought before God?

The Book of Mormon tells us...

2 Nephi 9:46
46 Prepare your souls for that glorious day when justice shall
be administered unto the righteous, even the day of judgment,
that ye may not shrink with awful fear; that ye may not remember
your awful guilt in perfectness, and be constrained to exclaim:
Holy, holy are thy judgments, O Lord God Almighty--but I know my
guilt; I transgressed thy law, and my transgressions are mine;
and the devil hath obtained me, that I am a prey to his awful
misery.

The Book of Mormon gave a great answer for this one. Also the Bible tells us a bit more in Matthew 25:42-46

" For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:
I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

As JB points out in his quote from 2 Nephi. I think the damned will know they are damned and know they deserve it. I don't think much will be said.

I also think it is going to be the same with those who are not "damned" but do not accept the Gospel and try to live righteously. When they are judged, they will already "know" and will feel the incredible pain of their own guilt. I think this is why Heavenly Father's plan is so just. Those who are not worthy to live in the Celestial Kingdom wouldn't really be happy their anyway. I don't think they could live with the guilt. They will end up where they would be most happy. Now, I think they will not be as happy as someone in the Celestial Kingdom, but they will be as happy as it is possible for them to be in their circumstance.

This has been probably one of the hardest concepts for me to accept -- that not everyone will be able to, or qualify, to live in the Celestial Kingdom. I see people every week who live the bare minimum of gospel principles in order to stay active. I wonder why? I'm striving so hard to do my best every day... it just breaks my heart that people can't make more of an effort to improve themselves and their lives. But I guess that is why there are three degrees of Heaven, and then there is outer darkness...

I can't imagine that anyone would have any kind of an excuse.

"17 Or do ye imagine to yourselves that ye can lie unto the Lord in that day, and say-Lord, our works have been righteous works upon the face of the earth-and that he will save you?
18 Or otherwise, can ye imagine yourselves brought before the tribunal of God with your souls filled with guilt and remorse, having a remembrance of all your guilt, yea, a perfect remembrance of all your wickedness, yea, a remembrance that ye have set at defiance the commandments of God?
19 I say unto you, can ye look up to God at that day with a pure heart and clean hands? I say unto you, can you look up, having the image of God engraven upon your countenances?
20 I say unto you, can ye think of being saved when you have yielded yourselves to become subjects to the devil?
21 I say unto you, ye will know at that day that ye cannot be saved..."

I tend to agree with Tena and JB. I wonder about those who are taught about evil and taught that it is the way and die without ever tasting, experiencing or knowing anything else? Where will they be happy? I know that in the spirit world they will be taught the gospel and given opportunity to accept it. How does one who knew only evil make a choice when faced with goodness? Is there really such a thing as an evil heart? I believe that is why genealogy/Temple work is so very important. It gives those in the spirit world a physical bond that feels familiar to them because of its earthliness. That this then helps them to know the truthfulness of the gospel and to accept it more readily.
