Vantaa government rejects merger with Helsinki Local Finland News In English
The Vantaa city government on Monday rejected a merger with Helsinki. Juhani Paajanen (soc dem), the mayor, handed a motion proposing that the council should not launch a study into a merger, with 12 members of the government backing him and five against. Tapani Mäkinen (cons), the chairman of the city government, had put forward a countermotion in favour of launching a study. Source: Helsinki Times
