The Indianapolis stake invites you to the Happy hallow Camp Ground on
OCTOBER 14, 15 & 16 for a special Single Adult Retreat. This year's
camp promises to be a wonderful opportunity for fun, fellowship and
worship. Our theme this year is "Hail to the Man" in remembrance of
the beloved prophet, Joseph Smith.

Friday Night: registration will begin at 4:00 p.m. dinner will Be
served from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. after dinner we will have a Mingling
activity and then be entertained by "the Golden Shepherds Gadget
band". They are a fun and lively group you won't want to miss. We
will then have a campfire/sing-a-long, Board games, and socializing.

Saturday Morning: you can choose from 6 different workshops held
through out the camp. We think you will find these to be
extraordinarily good, with a wide variety of topics to meet
everyone's interest. Choose 3 of the following: "Creative Problem
Solving" with Carol Watson: Carol has professional training in group
problem solving and will conduct this workshop outside to enhance
your problem solving skills. Life is full of problem solving
challenges!

"Lectures on Faith & the School of the Prophets" with Shawn hunt:
Shawn works for the Church Education system in Indianapolis and will
be talking about one of his favorite topics. He is an awesome speaker
with a deep commitment to his work.

"The Priesthood in Iraq" with Austin Hamner: Austin serves with the
Military Special Forces and returned from Iraq earlier this year. He
currently is assigned to Washington D.C. Austin will share with us
his testimony of the Priesthood in action.

"Strengthen our Bodies through Balance, Stretch and flexibility" with
Ann Smith: Ann shares her interest
in a variety of exercises. Learn to use your body as a tool of
strength. Learn what is current on the exercise scene; you will be
surprised what a little exercise can do for the mind, spirit and
body.

"Joseph Smith - fulfillment of Ancient Prophecy" with Robert Tibbs.
He works for the Church Education System in Bloomington, IN. He will
discuss both the Old Testament and Book of Mormon prophecies that
were fulfilled when the Church of Jesus Christ was restored through
the Prophet Joseph Smith. The restoration of the Church, was truly
witnessed by prophets of old.

"Music to Enlighten your soul" with Michael & Pam Runyan. Mike has a
PHD in Music and currently works at the Indianapolis Symphony. He has
a passion for the harmonica and has performed before Symphony
Orchestras using his musical instrument of choice. Together, Michael
and Pamela compose and arrange. Their latest collaboration, "On
Hallowed Ground (Shepherds Gather)" was just published by Hal Leonard
Corp. -- -- just in time for the upcoming Christmas season.

Lunch will be served at 12:00 noon and then you will be free to
explore famous Nashville, IN and Brown County. This area of the
country hosts travelers from all over the united states in the fall,
to enjoy the lush trees when the fall colors are in full show.

Happy Hollow camp is truly a beautiful and peaceful setting to enjoy
our retreat. Also, there are two brand new restroom & shower houses,
within a few feet of the cabins.

Saturday at 5:00 p.m. we will be favored to hear from our keynote
speaker, President Charles Clark , 2nd counselor in the Muncie, IN
stake. President Clark will be speaking on Joseph Smith, his trials
as a Man. He is a great speaker and his family roots are deep in the
early church so he can speak of family members getting to know
Joseph.

A live disc jockey, peter bowling, will be spinning the tunes from
7:00 to 11:00 p.m. Sunday our sacrament service will begin with
sacrament & testimonies. Our meeting will be closed by president
Richard l. Carlson, 1st counselor in the Indianapolis, IN stake. He
has worked with the single adults in the stake for approximately
Seven years. President Carlson is well versed in church history and
always speaks directly to the heart.

Please note: there is one more thing to mention: the food at Happy
Hallow is the BEST. Without fail, the cooks there put out the best
meals for a conference of this kind. Come taste some really good
food; they always serve more than one main dish and several side
dishes. From Breakfast to the last dessert- yum! See you There!

DINNER OUT! NO DATE NEEDED!
HOSTED BY THE L.A. TRI-STAKES (Inglewood,
Los Angeles, Santa Monica Stakes) SINGLES (31+)
SHANGHAI RED'S @ MARINA DEL REY
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th, 7:00 P.M. SHARP!

Round 5 of the "Dateless Dinner Out" for LDS singles (over 25ish) is
on! You can show up alone, or with some friends, and meet other LDS
singles you wouldn't normally meet. (We usually do this on the first
Friday of every month, but since the first Friday of September is a 3-
day weekend, we pushed it back one week to avoid conflicting with
travel plans.) The marina views from Shanghai Red's are amazing! Our
reservation is for the patio so make sure you bring something warm.
Their menu is very diverse, with seafood and steaks to ethnic fare,
so there's something for everyone. After dinner you can stroll along
the waterfront and talk to others you didn't get a chance to at
dinner.

Parking: The restaurant validates for the first two hours, and the
lot is pretty big. Valet is also available. Their address is:
13813 Fiji Way (cross street is Lincoln)
Venice, CA 90292-6910
310-823-4522

The spoils do not go to the shy, so come join us! Be sure to use the
e-vite link (which was previously sent) as RSVPs are a definite MUST.
If you did not receive the e-vite email, please email Rick below to
get hooked up. If you RSVP and then have a change of plans, BE SURE
to change your e-vite status online. Large groups require a very
accurate head count.

Any questions? Shoot 'em down to Rick at jrcarpenter@sbcglobal.net

If you've disliked singles activities in the past, the "dateless
dinner out" is for you - it's planned by and for people who don't buy
Jello, tip 20%, and have a great sense of humor! The "Dateless dinner
out" is to church activities what Park City is to Utah! Come prepared
to be interesting and have fun!

History of the "Dateless Dinner Out": We love our friends, but hey,
if they were really good friends they would have introduced us to
someone amazing by now and we'd have a hot date this weekend instead
of taking work home, so it's time to branch out and meet new people!
But girls know blind dates usually bite, and guys hate paying for a
dinner they can't wait to escape from, and actually talking with
someone at a dance is virtually impossible, so we've resurrected the
perfect meet-and-greet: the dateless dinner out.
