Global warming has been in and out as the "latest" hot topic for many years. It is, according to modern scientists, the result of man-made industrial pollutants, clearing forested areas, agriculture, etc. But now they are thinking it started way before the Industrial Revolution...Global Warming: Natural Or Man-made? - Page 42
The above article is one of the most inflammatory I've ever read about global warming, and kind of ridiculous, in my opinion.

The world has cyclic weather patterns. Has for centuries. Even if the world stopped relying on fossil fuels and became the "local business" model the author describes, the cycle of weather is not something mere humans can stop. Can we stop an earthquake? a volcanic eruption? sun flares? No.
Again, I'm not saying that we shouldn't be responsible stewards of the Earth and use clean technologies and conserve; I'm simply saying that this type of fear-mongering is fueling a call to action that won't have much impact, if any. As the quoted expert says in the article, this is a political, ideological issue. I agree with that. A lot of people will make inroads politically, but in regard to climate, not much will happen.
