Forests fight global warming in ways more important than previously understood
Trees impact climate by regulating the exchange of water and energy between Earth's surface and the atmosphere, an important influence that should be considered as policymakers contemplate efforts to conserve forested land, said the authors of an international study. Ref. Source 7a.
And this may be another way we are impacting the climate. We are deforesting this planet of ours at an alarming rate, and that scares the heck out of me. Trees do so much for us. Is it possible that humanity is suicidal? We certainly seem to have suicidal tendencies as a species… and I'm not fooling when I say this.
I still think Agent Smith's quote from the Matrix is the best:

Yes, it's past time for us to get off of this rock in large numbers. We need to learn to move about the galaxy quickly and colonize those worlds that can colonized or we will do something here that causes our extinction. Of course, leaving causes its own set of issues.
I like the quote from the Matrix in conjunction with this Topic. Other creatures will take what they need and leave the rest to be, but when it comes to man they must consume not just for themselves but for profit. Sometimes it is simply because they can. Thus we have caused something previously unknown - extinction of a species - not just for other creatures but now for ourselves. Consumerism drives the need to have what men want at all costs even to the point of death to the planet.

Yes, rampant consumerism is a huge problem for humanity and everything else on the planet. The fact we would hunt animals like whales, elephants, and rhinos to near extinction for our fictitious needs is testament to where we are as a species.
Some of what causes global warming has to do with angle and pitch of the earth and the changing of the solace so its not all mankind's fault.
