Predators Goalie Rinne Cleared To Return From Injured Knee (Yahoo Sports)

Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne has been cleared to return from a knee injury that kept him out the past three weeks, and he will start Thursday night against the Anaheim Ducks. Nashville re-assigned goalie Marek Mazanec back to Milwaukee in the AHL on Wednesday, and coach Peter Laviolette said after practice Wednesday that they pushed back Rinne's return to err on the side of caution. Laviolette told reporters Rinne now is ready to go. By the way, he looks out there right now he's on his way back.'' Rinne hurt his knee Jan. 13 against Vancouver with the Predators expecting the goalie to miss at least three weeks and possibly up to five weeks.

The Winnipeg Jets sent embattled left wing Evander Kane to the Buffalo Sabres in a seven-player trade on Wednesday, loading up in hopes of their first playoff run since moving from Atlanta. The Jets received defenseman Tyler Myers, forwards Drew Stafford and Joel Armia, the rights to 2014 second round pick Brendan Lemieux and Buffalo's latest first-round pick in 2015. ''I'm excited about what this trade brings to our organization,'' said Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff. ''At the end of the day it is a big deal but we think it's something that's going to help us both in the short-term and really help us in the long-term.'' Buffalo, the league's last place team, continues its rebuild by acquiring Kane, defenseman Zach Bogosian and college goaltender Jason Kasdorf.

Both forwards were injured in Winnipeg's 5-4 shootout win over Edmonton on Monday. Coach Paul Maurice said Perreault had a ''significant lower-body injury.'' ''We would be hopeful that he'll return by the end of the regular season,'' Maurice said after practice on Wednesday. ''If he does, it won't be much sooner than that.'' That means Winnipeg will have to continue its playoff push without Perreault, a key forward.

So the Habs just drew first blood and to me looked a bit stronger out there then Senators. I personally hope the Habs take this in 5. The harder battle I think is going to happen in Vancouver. Calgary is a quick hard team. If Vancouver is going to make it past them they better get a grip on the stick handling or the will be steam rolled.
