It doesn't matter whether I agree with it or not, my point is a "free" market never really exists. There is always some level or regulation or external influence, that's how economies work. Governments can extert pressures or influence over an economy when it feels the need to.
I believe governments have some level of responsibilty to ensure there are fair rules and regulations in place. By this I don't mean there should be excessive interference, but if you have an absolute free market than large powerful multi-nationals, or those with vast amounts of wealth and influence, are going to screw over the small fries. Governments have a responsibility to look after the interests of their constituents before those of foreign raiders, wouldn't you agree?
