Wikipedia defines the Diaphragm as a sheet of internal muscle that extends across the bottom of the rib cage. The diaphragm separates the thoracic cavity (heart, lungs & ribs) from the abdominal cavity and performs an important function in respiration. Such a Muscle can have some physiological defect and the commonest diseases affecting the diaphragm are: Diaphragmatic paralysis, Eventration of the diaphragm, Diaphragmatic hernia, Hiccough (Hiccup) and diaphragmatic flutter.
