Physical Evidence of the Book of Mormon

This thread seeks to focus on some of the physical evidences concerning the Book of Mormon era. The above picture taken from my scriptures comes from an old Book of Mormon (70's). This temple is believed to be from the Maya era and contains the famous Cross of Palenque.

I wish I could put some of the pictures I have seen, but I do not think I will be allow to do so.
Most critics say that there is not enough proof that there were pre-Columbian migration to the Americas but there are several evidences of it.

1. "Bountiful", Lehi describes it as " A rich, green garden spot with trees, abundant fruit, water, honey, and a mountain." Wadi Sayq, on the southeast coast of the Arabian penninsula fits exactly the description but who will think that in an arid place like the Arabian penninsula you could find such a 'rich' place?.

2. The Book of Mormon speaks of highways and roads in 3 Nephi 6:8 and 8:13, yet everyone knows the prehispanic meso-americans were not road builders but..one road in Yucatan is over 50 miles long (A. Bustillos Carillo, "El Sacbe de los Mayas, 1974). Others have been found in Belize, near Mexico City, and other sites in Central America.

3. Reformed Egiptian is the language that they used in the time of the Book of Mormon, most critics say there is not such a thing but Prof. Hubert Grimme, showed that some ancient engravings on the Sinai peninsula, (dating to about 1500 B.C.), were in the pure Hebrew language but the script was hieratic Egyptian that had been "some what changed". (Hubert Grimme, Prof. of Semitic Language at Munster University. pub. in "Althebraische Inschriften vom Sinai").

Physical Evidence of the Book of Mormon Studies Doctrine Mormon

It amazes me how much evidence there really is that the Book of Mormon really does document the peoples of the Americas in ancient times. Yet, the scholars just won't acknowledge it. The same scholars who accept the archealogical evidence surrounding Jesus and his life, refuse to look at evidences of what the Book of Mormon tells. Of course, if they did, it would require them to convert - so little chance of that happening.

On a regular basis we learn of new archealogical evidence regarding life in North, South and Central America from 1000's years ago and they act like it is all a new discovery, but my Book of Mormon contains those very evidences described in it, so I am not surprised, why are they?

No question the Book of Mormon is a true history of the early inhabitants of the Western Hemisphere and modern science can do nothing but continue to substantiate this fact.

I think it was Nighthawk who posted a link to an online magazine.... lots and lots of evidence of Hebrew history here on both American continents. Very interesting stuff... now where did he post it? Something like American Archeology or some such thing...

Comments: For me if we all believe on faith and answers by the spirit then the physical evidence doesn't matter at all. The physical is in the pages I turn when I read the Book of Mormon again and again.

Anyway, that is my opinion!

One of the best evidences Dowdell brings out is that a ship driven by the wind leaving the south coast of Arabia (Where Bountiful was) would (At the right time of the year) be drawn down to the fast moving Circumpolar Currents around Antarctica, and then with a little steering would be drawn up the coast of South America where eventually the currents would almost cease at 30 degrees South latitude at the perfect landing bay of Coquimbo. Then the evidences go on and on and on-- verifying a South American model of the Book of Mormon lands.

I realize most have accepted other models of the Book of Mormon lands, but I doubt they have really studied the overwhelming evidence for the the South American model.
