Comments: Hello, it was interesting to see that someone brought up the topic of ADHD in adults. I am 30 years old and have only now realised that I have this disorder after much research. The psychologist I have starting seeing is shying away from diagnosing and is instead focusing on my symptoms. It is however very clear to me that my disorder is in comorbidity with emotional/behavioural disorder. I believe that I have had these disorders since my pre-school years. However, unlike males, many females like myself with such disorders do not exhibit physical hyperactivity. As a matter of fact, at any given time the disorder might manifest itself differently. My marriage suffered because of this disorder and has now ended after 7 years. I would like to heighten awareness in anyone out there who might exhibit some if not all of the following symptoms: inability to keep still; starting and not finishing tasks; short concentration span; overly aggressive; highly emotionally charged (when angry it is like it consumes you); anxious (when supplied with little info you start to worry, wonder, question, and conjure up all sorts of scenarious), problems sleeping; short memory; depression.
These are not all the symptoms, and you may not have a disorder if you have some of them, but the only way to know is if you talk to someone.

Comments: International Children's Academy for Neurodevelopment (ICAN) assesses and treats ADHD. They are located in St. Augustine Trinidad.
Celene, I would be very skeptical to go to this place in St. Augustine. I couldn't find a single reference of them online and that alone is a red flag. There are many scammers out there and people who claim to be specialists of this or that and the truth is that probably just finished a course....not saying this is the case with them but I just find strange there is absolutely nothing about them on the internet. If they're specialists then I would assume they have a team of psychologists (Phd) assessing. Is that the case?

Comments: I have a few friends who took their children to ICAN and they have had great results. Their entire families have benefited. Will be taking my daughter there soon.

Comments: Good morning [where] in Trinidad could I get a doctor to diagnose my seven year old son for ADHD, he has all sign and my contact number is [..]
Hamesha, there are only a couple of child psychologists in the country and I am not able to recommend anyone based on my experience. You could ask for referrals or call psychologists and find out who is willing to diagnose.
