Comments: I am actually looking at the option of homeschooling since we can't find a good special school as well as a mainstream school to help my child. Trust me I have been looking, going, sitting down with principals and teachers of these schools. I even thought about migrating to the U.S.This makes me so sad because I love Trinidad but it seems as if no one really cares about these children

Comments: Hi, my daughter is Jeanine [..]. She is a down syndrome [child]. Her birthday was just May 27th. I am really proud to share with you that she has been accepted in the international school for cosmetology. I'm shocked that they accepted her and she seems to be doing fine. Her brothers [..] are very supportive of her and we accept her.

Comments: I am going around in circles, feeling so frustrated my 3 year old has Down syndrome. He says a few words is potty trained, runs, jumps, climbs, feeds himself. I can't find a pre-school that will take him. As soon as I mention he is Down Syndrome you should see the fear on the school administrators faces. One of them even told me that he might beat up the other children, throw tantrums and interfere with the female students, you know I had a few choice words for that illiterate fool. Any ideas other that home schooling, right now I can only do so much. Even thinking about packing up and migrating just for his sake. Living in this country is so frustrating sometimes.
Summer, I'm so sorry to hear what you are going through. I have three kids with Autism so I know how ignorant and stupid people can be. That principal who told you your child might beat up other students or interfere with female students is a complete fool and shouldn't be in that position or ANY position involving children! Having said that Summer, her mentality is quite common here in Trinidad that's why I decided homeschooling but I know, not everyone has that same opportunity.
If you have the ability and resources to migrate just for his sake, please do so. In North America, you may find lots of resources for kids with Down Syndrome. I feel your frustration and I hope everything works out for you.
Indra, those are wonderful news for your daughter!
