Have you ever been in a helicopter? It is very different from being in a plane, for one thing you are very close to the pilot. One of the toughest thoughts about being in copter is the fact that there is no way of guiding if something were to happen to the engine and you stalled. Heli-pilots employ a spin in order to break their fall, but it really does not cut it.
Helicopters are cool! I bought a ride in one over a canyon in Colorado a long time ago (I can't remember which one, sorry) and it was just a little copter. That pilot swooped down the sides of the canyon so fast!! It was really really fun, but scary too. I would love to ride in a big helicopter, like the military ones I see all the time in the air here. They are so big and noisy, they actually make the windows in the house rattle! The very air vibrates, and they are HIGH up -- it makes me wonder what it's like to actually be IN one

heck ya! helicopters are awesome, though i prefer jets over them by far.
when my family went on a vacation to hawaii (back in like '95?), the pilot took us in a jetranger helio over the valleys where jurassic park was filmed...it was RAD!
In reality, if the engine (or engines) quit you can came down under control, not like an airplane... you push the colective ( the lever on the left hand on most of the helicopters) what will invert the pitch and syat what we call autorotation, yoiu incline the nose of the craft down and fly normally until you get close of the ground, if you calculate correctly you will bring the colective up and the inertia of the main rotor will reduce the speed of the helicopter to zero and if you did perfectly you will land very well....just something you need to know, "you have to land between your feet", the window on your feet will show where you should land...if you try to stretch the glide ratio then you will have an accident.
flying helicopters is fun and I recomend everybody to go to a flight school and try at least one hour in control, your istructor will know how to make you love to fly it by yourself.
Helicopters make you feel like you are flying by yourself, it is very open but is noise (unless you have a trurbine version) and shakes or vibrate a lot (exept expensive ones), military helicopters are the worst.
