We discuss murders, stabbings, etc here on ttcrime.com but crime is everywhere and neglect is also one (even though some people may not see it as such). I couldn't believe my eyes when I read there is a 2 1/2 years old toddler in Laventille with cerebral palsy who has "scales" all over his little body and he weighs only 9 pounds!
Social Services knew about it, even a pediatrician saw the child and gave a report and nothing was done! It was only yesterday when independent Senator Helen Drayton begged for help in parliament that the government moved to action to take the child away from this environment. I have many questions:
1. Why Social Services knowing the situation of this child delayed the help he so desperately needs?
2. How many kids in similar circumstances are being neglected and Social Services is aware of it?
3. Why they even bother to put a 24 hour child line if Social Services is clearly incapacitated to perform their duties as they're supposed to?
4. Will the parents and grandmother of this child be charged with neglect? I hope they are!

1. It's called "We don't care".
2. Probably many.
3. Exactly. Sometimes I wonder if those in politics and government have any brains at all. Fix the system first and then you can proceed with these sort of initiatives.
4. I doubt it very much.
