Police are also seeking the public's assistance in getting information on the killing of Ricky Gopaul, who was found dead at Sundrees Road, Penal.

Gopaul was found lying at the side of the road with a chop to the face. His body was removed to the San Fernando General Hospital mortuary.

Case Murder Gopaul Ricky

Ricky Gopaul was my uncle. He was 46 years old. Shy, quiet, honest and loving.

He was his mother's first child and first son and the first of Seven children.

On Saturday I had to watch in pain and horror as my 71 year old grandmother cried and begged for her son to come back to her as he lay in his casket. The burial was worse.

There are no leads, no suspects, no witnesses. This is going to be a cold case just like thousands of other cases.

Ricky left to go to work on Monday- as a watchman at the Penal/Debe Regional Corporation.. he never returned. His phone and bank card are gone.

He was not a wealthy man. He was not a famous man. Just a regular, average citizen. Why him? He never got married or had any children. He was content with staying home and taking care of his mother and father. My mother (his sister) along with uncles and aunts are still in shock and disbelief. We still think our sweet Ricky is coming home....

Trinidad is becoming a society that robs us of everything... Even life and happiness.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss Krystal. How sad! So the police didn't tell you all a motive? Was it just money and his phone?

Sorry to say this but if they don't have a suspect yet then I doubt the police will find any evidence let's face it only a few crimes get highlighted on the news and the rest are just left in the dark like if the lives of some people are less valuable than others.

Comments: Rickey Gopaul was my cousin.. My family is suffering from a great loss... He was killed by heartless incompetent cowards.. We know that he is now is peace with God and have no worries about the wickedness of this world...What these brutal monsters did'nt know, what is done in darkness eventually comes out to light.. My family is very strong in faith and even thought we're greaving we know God is good. Two monsters were caught and confessed of killing my cousin & two other innocent souls.. I hope & pray that these cowards get what they deserve & never be allowed to see the light of day. Never be allowed to be on the stress ever again to hurt and kill more people. Our family prayers were answered, but our great loss will be forever. RIP cousin Rickey we love you & justice will be served. Cousin Twinkle & family.
