Brief description of the "Eagle - Bald": Adult Bald Eagles are very distinctive with their white head and dark brown bodies. The young are less distinctive with white blotches on their bodies, which they lose at age four or five.

Bald Eagle

In my area there are many bald eagles who fly in for the winter as our winter is more mild than their normal northern roosts. It is nice to watch them as they fish for food and fly about. Being the USA national bird they are fun to see.

11 bald eagles spotted during count

Eleven bald eagles were counted in San Bernardino County in the first count of the season. More than 100 people participated, spotting the birds during a one-hour period Saturday. A wildlife biologist called it a "Pretty good number" for December. Ref. Source 1p.
