Peregrine falcons are used by Master Falconers in many various roles for Abatement in the United States. So before you run, you must crawl and learn the basics of the skill "Falconry". Once you have apprenticed and mastered your basic Falconry Federal License you may then test out for a different raptor such as the Peregrine falcon. The Peregrine Falcon is a wonderful raptor to have in your arsenal when dealing with birds that are a nuisance to the community or environment that you might be working in. Peregrine Falcons and other raptor don't cheat in regards to mating but if a mate dies they will find another suitor to share the responsibility of raising the young.

Sfg are you a falcon trainer? I've wondered what kind investment it takes in caring for a bird like this both in the training, cost to buy the bird and maintenance.

Sorry for the late reply Hunter.

No, I'm not a trainer that trains a raptor to do tricks but I am a human that "Mans" with a raptor that hunts. If that answered your question, hopefully.

I'm a federally licensed "Falconer" that aids a raptor while it hunts.

To me a "Trainer" is a "Pet Keeper" that would train a animal or perhaps a bird to do fancy trick like what you would see a disneyland, seaworld or Bush gardens.

As in terms for investment.. it can be a money pit but I do love the raptors so for me it's a labor of love. The upswing is that you make your own equipment and its easy… mostly new people that get into this lifestyle are supported with gifts from others which is very nice.

As for the maintenance ...

That goes rain, snow or sunshine… its like a kid that never leaves the house. Even after grad school… *chuckles.
