Offtopic but, Your profile says you are an atheist -- are you sure you believe what you are discussing here? Or is your intention only to cause dissension? |

I chose athiest because I would find brotherhood with whomever does worship like I do; whether they belong to the LDS church or mine or something else. Since I choose to discern the LDS church on the basis of their theology, I also desire to be discerned by mine. For that reason, titles get in the way of open-mindedness. I will tell you that I am not an athiest. For these good reasons I would rather not tell you with what church I identify with, but I will tell you if you ask me.
Regarding this quality of life that is determined by works, in the hereafter and in this life.... Those who have not faith in Jesus will die in their sins. They will experience spiritual death; they will not be resurrected in the likeness of Jesus. In my understanding. As well, when I say "saved" I know you mean resurrection but I do not, so I will now use the word "exaultation," because that is the best fit for what I understand. Do you know a better one? Here is my idea of salvation:
"I have come so that they might have life, and have it to the fullest." john 10:10
2 cor. 1: "For no matter how many promises God has made, they are 'Yes' in Christ." 1 john 4:15 "If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God. God lives in him and he in God."
"And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body" eph 1:22
I am not sure if I have painted a clear picture or not... let me know. I believe that works determine the rewards we might receive in heaven. Not whether or not we are found spotless and blameless and pure in His sight when we are judged.

But I think it is the opposite, and I have many very important reasons why. In fact, those reasons that I may get the opportunity to share with you are the reason why I am here. At least the most important one. When I say opposite, I believe that I "become" through identifying myself in Christ by faith, and that the works are simply an expression of it, a chance for the world to see God gloified in my life and those around me.

JB,
I thought that since an offtopic question was asked here I could also answer it here. I think the issue is finished, and I don't need to say anything more about it. Is that all right with you? I have not seen any messages from you, only the one from Roz above, regarding my profile at this point. I must have missed them. My threads may be a lengthy mystery, but there was only one paragraph above that was about my profile; the rest was ontopic, right? How far offtopic is how I regard the LDS church? I think the people would ask me this as we went. I wrote these issues here in this post because I like to exercize the right to respond publically as I was addressed publically. And because I am unsure about starting some kind of new topic. I explained my purpose and point, in my eyes, by choosing athiest to describe me. When I apply for jobs I don't have to disclose my religion to those who might hire me; really, I am of the impression that it is not anyone's business unless I make it. But you tell me what you think; I will follow what you tell me to do so that we can be at peace in this matter. PM if you like.
