QUOTE POLICE are awaiting the results of DNA tests to determine the identity and cause of death of a corpse found in an abandoned cane field in central Trinidad on Wednesday. According to a police report, at about 5.45 pm, officers including Cpl Barrow, Cpl Howard and WPC Mohan of the Chaguanas CID, received information and went to the Perseverance area where they carried out a search.
Attracted by smoke on lands which once belonged to Caroni 1975 Ltd (which is now defunct) the officers saw a pile of tyres well ablaze. The fire department was called in and after the fire was doused, the officers found the charred remains of a human being. Source 5
