The Game Master says...

Everyone relieves themselves of excess equipment. The party decides to run up to the sides of the caravan and then make a surprise attack at the torch bearing men using their bows.

GM: Everyone should now use the World of Medieval Combat Dice ensuring to fill in the fields properly with your info. When all the rolls are in the Scenario will be updated with the results of your battle actions.

The Game Master says...

As you get closer and to the sides you can see that the Caravan is enclosed with a teamster on top handling two powerful looking horses. Ahead of them are two armored men on horseback and to the rear of the caravan are two simple looking foot soldiers.

GM: Taking into account your reaction rolls

The first to shoot an arrow is Neihao towards one of the men on horseback but he fumbles terribly as the arrow swishes by his face and thus alerting your presence.

Merlin, John and Lady Godiva all shoot their arrows and all miss.

By now you hear one of the men scream out,

"We're under attack!"

They halt and look towards the outskirts of where you are and begin to pan out thus giving you one last shot at them, however to your dismay the teamster yells,

"Whoaaaaaa! Graaaa!"

The horses neigh and begin to move speedily towards the South.

The warriors in the party get in a quick second attack with John hitting one of the horsemen in his leg, but it slows him none as he is on horseback riding towards him with a long sword.

Lady Godiva's second arrow misses as she curses her folly.

By now the caravan is gaining speed 50 feet away and the soldiers are upon you.

Neihao has a horseman rushing towards him at close range. Neihao fires and this time his arrow sinks deep within the mounted warrior but it has not stopped him from also hitting Neihao a devastating blow.

GM: Neihao -4HP

Merlin fires another arrow and misses but so too has the soldier upon him.

John fires two more arrows and both meet their target into the flesh of the horseman but he still approaches and swings barely misses John.

Lady Godiva and the soldier upon her both miss in their attacks while engaged in battle.

The caravan has covered a lot of ground now as you switch to hand to hand combat.

Neihao's speed and armor is just about all that saves the razor misses from the horseman who now falls off his horse with the last blow Neihao has dealt him.

Merlin finds himself in a difficult position as he has no hand weapon. He misses with his use of as an arrow like a mini-spear. The soldier, now opposite him, laughs and trusts his sword through Merlin.

GM: Merlin take -4

John swings in a slashing X and the horseman he faces falls off his horse.

Lady Godiva and the soldier opposite her are both embroiled in battle but neither of them have been successful.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

Neihao mounts the horse of his fallen enemy and rides towards Merlin.

GM: I will assume John is referring to the horse nearest to him and not the ones pulling the caravan.

John manages to gain his own steed from the dead warrior and rides towards Lady Godiva.

As this is happening the battle continues between the others...

Merlin tries to stab at the soldier but the arrow head cannot penetrate his armor. The soldier slashes and Merlin falls to the ground... Dead.

GM: Merlin is out of the game.

The soldier turns to see Neihao coming and readies his blade.

Lady Godiva parries the blows of the soldier and John is now here but his input into the battle is of little value to bringing the soldier down at the moment.

Neihao attacks and brings the soldier's face to the ground near where Merlin lays.

The soldier fighting Lady Godiva begins to see himself surrounded and starts to run towards the South dropping his torch first so as to better make his run unseen.

The Game Master says...

John and Neihao turn their horses towards the running soldier and it is not before long that they are on top of him. Seeing his predicament the soldier decides to stand ground.

GM: Combat rolls are needed for John and Neihao. Note if you are fighting to subdue only then state that in your notes but the soldier will be likely fighting for blood.

The Game Master says...

John is the first to come upon the runaway soldier. John halts his further movement dealing him an injury, however the soldier fights in desperation but is unable to hit back.

Neihao arrives on the scene to assist but is unable to subdue the soldier.

John continues and slays the soldier but not before receiving some damage.

By now the caravan's loan mounted torch can hardly be seen as it speeds towards Death's Mouth.

GM: John takes -3HP damage. Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

Neihao searches the dead soldier and sees that he has some good boots on and a short sword worth using. In his belt ouch are two gold pieces.

GM: Add to your inventory what you take.

Lady Godiva brings light into a small camp that you make.

You tend your wounds but it does little to take the pain away.

Distant howls can be heard as everything falls silent.

The Game Master says...

You decide to remain at your current location and sleep where possible. As you try to settle the howls of wolves get more intense, you feel they are very much aware of your presence.

By this time, you can see one of Medieval's moons rising into the night sky giving a little more insight into your surrounding than you had before. After the space of half an hour you can hear the sounds of the wolves from South East and South West of your location, they are getting closer.

The Game Master says...

GM: I will spare you having to go back for the equipment you left in the plains and assume that at some point you went back for it. But I normally do not as forgetting such things does add flavor to the story, however you are only going back to the Village this time, but watch out next time.

You gather your items and leave a blood decoy for the wolves. Using your newly acquired steeds you race towards the Village and get back before midnight. Everything is closed up and all is silent.

In the combined pouches attached to the saddles you find 50 gps.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.
