GM: I will go off Felipe's roll for the Great Wolf's attack.
The great mother wolf in her leap alone pushes Neihao backwards to the ground, his head and back hitting the hard surface below - her weight landing upon him as he is pinned and now unconscious and bleeding.
GM: Neihao is out cold at the moment but not yet out of the game.
The mother is ready to attempt a neck snap on Neihao but from the corner of her eye she sees John trying to use his long sword as a spear to stab at her (a long sword has limited use within this cave), thus Neihao is spared, for now as she turns her attention to John.
Claws hit steel and sword hits rock as the battle rages between the two, however none conquer the other as Lady Godiva arrives to ascertain what is happening followed by Dante.
Meanwhile...
Tanar holds the horses wondering what is happening and if something will eventually happen to him.
GM: I need a combat rolls from FairMaiden and Play by post.
Before the others can join in Felipe stabs at the wolf with his might that causes her to yelp and backup a little but the sounds of her cubs pushes her forward.
Lady Godiva joins in but her first two strikes miss the wolf and the wolf's offensive also brings no harm to Lady Godiva. She tries to act as a shield to Neihao's body as she tries pulling him out of the cave while the others keep the Great Wolf occupied.
Dante tries to cover Lady Godiva's position as he enters battle with a swoop and slash of his sword causing great damage to the mother as she retreats to her cubs, snarls, and curdles up with them panting, her cubs snuggling into her blood soaked fur.
Tanar joins the group trying to understand the situation and what he missed.
As you better survey the mother's den you can see there is some rotting flesh from the corpse of a young calf near where she lays with her cubs, now you know what is causing the smell. Around the cave are chains, bowls and whips. You begin to detect that this cave is in fact a place used to breed and restrain dogs or perhaps even wolves. The conditions are awful and everything looks abandoned.
GM: Say what you wish to do now.
Tanar tries to work feverishly on Neihao with what little he has but he finds it is for naught as Neihao passes in his arms.
GM: Oliron is out of the game.
Dante attempts to look around the cave but the Great Mother Wolf is regaining her enthusiasm to see you gone by your actions, however she has not given the impression she will attack if you abase and retire from her den.
GM: Say what you wish to do now.
Dante and Tanar drag the body of Neihao into the pass. They look for a suitable place to bury him but given the conditions and lack of a pick or shovel they ponder a shallow rock grave. This will involve them collecting many rocks to make a mound out of the body.
GM: Confirm if you wish to do this.
John watches on as Lady Godiva rides South to survey the area before returning to describe what she has seen.
Lady Godiva describes the pass ending within a mile or two and that many forests are beyond. She also adds that they, the forests, felt kind of eerie, as though the distant trees were alive and looking at her. Unusually, she mentions as a passing comment that she also found fresh tracks leading South.
GM: Say what you wish to do now.
Tanar and Dante carefully lay Neihao's body into the the black wagon making it an impromptu hearse. The irony of his body laying in the Dark Cleric's former transportation makes you wonder if there is not something more sinister about your bad luck.
Tanar decides to take control of the wagon while Dante...
GM: Not specified so I'm assuming that Dante is taking Neihao's horse?
You move on quickly towards the South taking in everything around you with careful consideration. After awhile you reach the end of the pass and can see the forests of the far South ahead. There are no visible roads or paths so whomever traveled left distinct foot and wagon tracks through the brush and grass. You start to follow these noting how much greener everything is becoming as you leave the rocky mountains behind you. You estimate that the wagon is heavy laden and there are both horse and footmen following it. In all this time you begin to feel faint from the lack of food and drink and the constant travel of the day. You do have a few hours of light left and start to talk with one another about your choices when you notice faint smoke coming from one area of the forest... Perhaps someone has set a small camp fire.
GM: Say what you wish to do now.
Tanar relinquishes his belongings to the wagon and decides to scout the forest's smoke for inhabitants. Nervously he pulls back shrub after shrub, ducking behind trees and parting large bushy areas to bring him near a small clearing in the middle of the thick forest. To his shock he sees a large black wagon much like the one you have parked outside a meager looking hut. A couple of darkly clad warriors that wear the cloaks of bandits are laughing outside while playing lots in a semi-drunk manner. Inside you can hear the muffled screams of a woman every now and again.
Meanwhile...
The others unaware of the situation are resting while nibbling their rations.
GM: Say what you wish to do now.
Tanar decides to further his investigations of the hut, the surroundings, those who can possibly in and around the hut, etc. In doing so he has to manage his agility so as to not alert the guards outside.
GM: Roll a D100 for Tanar and report the result. A number below 70 is favorable.
Tanar manages to avoid making loud sounds or unluckily bring attention to himself as he carefully goes through thickets, shrubs, bush and more to circle about the old hut to gain a better idea about how formidable the possibilities of an encounter here may be.
Tanar sees that there is a small track that leads to the hut coming from one side of the forest, it is here they probably passed with the wagon. The entrance to this track was not visible from where the rest of your party is now so you do not know where it leads to.
The hut itself has but one door in the front and a very small window (see image). A very large roof covers it made of haw, hay and branches. Whomever owns it is probably a peasant without any real source of income as there are no plots for farming.
You hear strange chantings coming from within the hut now as the pleas of the woman subside and are no longer heard.
