The Dark Cleric - Medieval RPG - Page 40

The Game Master says...

Dante, Grouth and John search the Temple Room. This dark ceremonial space gives off the most unwelcoming of feelings as your lantern shines up the history of it. Dried blood can be seen on the statue itself as well as around the room in splattered fashion. You assume that worship was conducted with sacrifice but who or what was the sacrificial 'lamb' you do not know.

Dante looks around the room for traps but he does not see anything obvious with his limited knowledge of such things.

John looks around and sees nothing of value to take. He checks the stature for switches and finds nothing.

The demonic statue is rather large and made of solid stone. Grouth attempts to move it but it only moves a little at a time with all your strength.

Meanwhile...

Lady Godiva searches the room the men occupied. She has only the light from the lanterns of her comrades in the other room. On the men you find 2 hand cross bows and a short sword.

In the room you find:

2 black cloaks
2 suits of padded armor
A pouch of 10 gps
A leather pouch with a map
Bed rolls, blankets and sheets.

The Game Master says...

Dante shines his lantern as Lady Godiva, John and him looks at the map. It is a map of the surrounding areas but it also charts the South - way beyond Death's Mouth. There are some notes to the side which seem to list deliveries that have been made to an unknown shrine in the South. Hauls of stone, gold and wood were taken there over the past few weeks from East City. You wonder about what all this could mean.

Dante then decides to search the room again but finds nothing of interest save for the items Lady Godiva already found.

Meanwhile...

Grouth attempts to topple the statue over.

GM: I need a D20 with a +5 modifier vs Body for Grouth. Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

Grouth attempts to move the statue on his own. As he begins to raise it he loses his grip and strains one of his muscles. He lets out a yell of pain.

GM: Grouth takes -1 HP

Just then...

John is startled by Grouth's yell and accidentally trips over a bed roll in his haste to find out what happened. He hits his head against a wall.

GM: John takes -1 HP

At that time...

Dante and Lady Godiva come to assist Grouth. Together you are able to move the statue and topple it over. It smashes into large pieces. Nothing under it or within it is revealed.

You continue to search around for secret passages but find nothing.

Dante makes his way back up the steps and into the Tavern where all seems quiet.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.

The Game Master says...

Lady Godiva gathers the things she found and then with the others you exit the Tavern. The early hours of the morning still gives you cover as you calmly walk out of East City without trouble.

You make your way back to your horses and with relief you find them where you left them, however you are exhausted. You know that it will be fool hardy to camp here as your massacre in the Tavern will soon be discovered and you are still within close proximity to East City.

GM: Lady Godiva needs to update her Equipment and everyone say what you wish to do now.

RPG Medieval Cleric Dark The

The Game Master says...

As the sun rises brilliantly you enter the Village like triumphant heroes save no one knows what you have been up to just a few hours ago. You are very tired and some of you need desperately to rest and heal your bloody wounds. Before decisively parting, you all agree that upon the next day's noon sun you will meet at the Village Tavern.

In your various homes you literally collapse on your beds.

After some time...

John decides to visit the Village Healer. For 35 GPs he can have you restored again within a week.

GM: Each of you go up a Level towards Level 2. You will need to add +1 to ONE of either: Body, Soul or Mind. You will need to roll a D6 and add the result to your maximum HP. I need to know the results of all of these the next time you post Actions.

Upon meeting at the Tavern you already hear loud talk of what you did in East City. Some in the Tavern suspiciously look at you as though you have something more to say about it but you keep it to yourselves. You do hear worrying rumors circulating that a dark band has been sent to assassinate the culprits by night. You wonder about that and if you left any traces of your presence that could help them determine who you are and identify your location.

Besides this you know your next task may need to be towards the unexplored South way beyond Death's Mouth, but with your small number and a lack of other skilled hands you may have to wait. You have heard that rather large men, giants as it were, have been seen to the deep South, this alone is a challenge besides your main task of the Dark Cleric himself.

You also consider a meeting again with the Village Elders. They were notably disappointed with your progress the last time you saw them, but your new discovery about the Dark Cleric's plans may give you favor with them again. Still it may be a risk to your own plans as they probably can insist that you leave it to Wanderer.

GM: We will break here for awhile. This will allow you to bring in other consistent Party Members. When you feel you are ready you can begin Posting your Actions as usual. Feel free to Discuss in the Camp Thread your plans. Ensure to Update all your Character Equipment and Stats.

The Dark Cleric - Medieval RPG

The Game Master says...

GM: Scenario is open again but with a twist in the Scenario.

Word is sent to you via a messenger that has been studying you for awhile, all be it unbeknown to you. The message is that the Elders of the Village require your presence for a secret meeting. As you press the messenger for more information you begin to understand that it is not all the Elders but a couple of them, the more senior of the lot.

You agree and meet the senior Elders at the appointed time and place. In the meeting, below a home located in the Village, you are made bluntly aware that there is a traitor among the Elders of the Village or at least that is what the two in front of you say about it. Apparently, they believe that one of the Elders is an informant for the Dark Cleric. They fearfully admit that the Dark Cleric is getting stronger and his influence is spreading even in the Kingdom. They ask you to hasten your mission by traveling to a remote fishing village to the West to seek out whatever 'hands' you might need to execute the greater task.

The Game Master says...

The senior Elders look at each other perplexed about your delay. One of them says,

"Is it that ye are unsure of what we say or need more time to think about it?"

GM: You can start with how many ever there is of you. I will make the Scenario fit the number so at least for 2014 there is constant movement here.

The Game Master says...

GM: Those of you who have posted actions will see that your Character is now at Level 2.

Dante asks the Elders to explain how they knew there was a traitor among them as well as to verify they are not traitors themselves. They express understanding of your suspicion and assure you that they have been closely monitoring certain actions among the Elders and have found collusion with the Dark Cleric. They hope that by sending you West you may be able to find those whose trade is nimble but not evil like those you might encounter at East City. They then ask if you have any further questions as time is pressing.

GM: Say what you wish to do now.
