A followup to this story. Apparently a hijack distress signal was sent from one of the planes before it crashed, causing suspicion that some sort of terrorist activity was involved. There were eyewitness reports of an explosion on the second airliner prior to crashing, which raises warning flags. There is also a regional election coming up in a couple of days and there is suspicion that a separatist group may have been involved as well. Either way, 89 innocent people died on the 2 airliners and it is definitely a time of worry and sadness in Russia.

Terrorists have been targeting the Russians for a long time, however this may be one of the break away groups trying to use Osama tactics since they see how 'effective' it is at grabbing attention. So sad for the people who died - so sad for the world we live in.

I heard about this on TV and the man is being charged with creulty to animals. Personally I hope he gets jail time. I would love to see how the other inmates would treat him. As you said Nighthawk, God works in mysterious ways. I do hope he gets what he deserves.

HOT-AIR BALLOON COLLIDES WITH RADIO TOWER
A balloon became entangled in a radio tower on the final day of the city's
trademark balloon festival Sunday, forcing the pilot and two young passengers
to shimmy most of the way down the nearly 700-foot-tall structure.

Can you imagine having to cling to a 700-ft tall radio tower?? Imagine how cold it is up there, and how windy!! Yikes... They are lucky to have escaped unharmed.

(this doesn't bode well for next year's balloon festival )
