Odd News From Around The World - Page 4

A followup to this story. Apparently a hijack distress signal was sent from one of the planes before it crashed, causing suspicion that some sort of terrorist activity was involved. There were eyewitness reports of an explosion on the second airliner prior to crashing, which raises warning flags. There is also a regional election coming up in a couple of days and there is suspicion that a separatist group may have been involved as well. Either way, 89 innocent people died on the 2 airliners and it is definitely a time of worry and sadness in Russia.

Terrorists have been targeting the Russians for a long time, however this may be one of the break away groups trying to use Osama tactics since they see how 'effective' it is at grabbing attention. So sad for the people who died - so sad for the world we live in.

I heard about this on TV and the man is being charged with creulty to animals. Personally I hope he gets jail time. I would love to see how the other inmates would treat him. As you said Nighthawk, God works in mysterious ways. I do hope he gets what he deserves.

Can you imagine having to cling to a 700-ft tall radio tower?? Imagine how cold it is up there, and how windy!! Yikes... They are lucky to have escaped unharmed.

(this doesn't bode well for next year's balloon festival wink.gif )

Wife seeks divorce from lottery winner

QUOTE
Juan Rodriguez , who collected the huge windfall in the Mega Millions lottery last month, is now on the outs with his wife, the New York Post reported Saturday. Iris Rodriguez wants a divorce from her husband of 17 years, and she filed the paperwork just 10 days after Juan bought the winning ticket on Nov. 19.

The story goes on to say that Juan had filed for bankruptcy a month before he won the $88.5 million US lottery. At the time he bought the ticket he had $0.78 in his bank account and owed $44,000 to creditors. Imagine the roller coaster ride this guy is going through. First he is dirt poor with creditors pounding on his door. Then he wins almost $90 million in the lottery, now he has his wife filing for divorce and seeking half of his lottery winnings.
