The Covenant Of Hamas

I was reading a couple of online articles today and I found a link to the Covenant of Hamas. I linked to it and found the reading to be quite interesting. Here are some quotes from the Wikipedia definition of the Covenant of Hamas:

international QUOTE
Preface: "Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it."

Article 13: "There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad. Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors. The Palestinian people know better than to consent to having their future, rights and fate toyed with."

Suicide attacks are an element of what the group sees as its asymmetric warfare against Israel. Since the group considers all Israel to be a "Militarized society" (there is mandatory military service for most Jewish men and women) and Israelis to be participants in an illegal occupation of Palestinian land, Hamas does not distinguish between Israeli civilian and military targets. This failure to distinguish between combatants and non-combatants and the group's willingness to target civilian facilities including buses, supermarkets, and restaurants has led to it being labeled a terrorist organization.

Here are some more interesting quotes where the author makes paralles between Hamas and Hitler's National Socialist Party. He also talks about the growing Islamic population in Europe, and that Muslims may one day claim it as 'Waqf'.

international QUOTE
It is uncanny how similar are the events that recently took place among the Palestinians and what happened in Germany in 1933. The Germans had Mein Kampf, and the Palestinians have the Covenant of the Islamic Resistance Movement, popularly known as Hamas. In the case of Germany, it led to a world war and total ruin. What it will lead to in the case of Hamas is still an open question. But if they do not renounce their plans, it could lead to the total ruin of the Palestinians.

Obviously, Hamas has a view of history that has become part of the fantasy world Palestinians believe in. Also, the Waqf concept must serve as a warning to Europe, which is in the process of being invaded and taken over by Muslims

Great Thread Malexander, but just for clarification:

1. How is this thread different from the Israel vs. Palestine Thread?
2. Are we focusing on the Hamas Political Regime or are we blending in Muslim beliefs too, if so we need to move this to Studies of Islam?

What is the main focus so I know what to do, and so we do not have duplicate Discussions going on?

The Covenant Of Hamas Islam Studies

Yes, good questions JB, questions I had to ask myself before opening this discussion. I read through the Palestine vs Israel thread, and didn't see enough discussion on the beliefs and teaching of Hamas to warrant placing this issue there. The closest existing thread I could find would be the Jihad thread, since Jihad is a fundamental teaching of the Hamas, but there is much more to Hamas than Jihad, so I didn't think it would fit there either. As for the discussion fitting into the Studies of Islam board, I would agree with that, but I figured since Hamas is really a political organization, that the discussion of its covenant would go beyond the teachings of Islam. Either way, it can be moved to that board if deemed necessary. I would like to get interpretations from others on the foundation of Hamas, namely its Covenant, and its effect on the geo-political relationships of the region. Hopefully that clears things up a bit.

Okay, let us discuss this as Hamas - the Political Party and leave it here (I will add in a description to reflect this). I just did not want another Israel vs. Palestine Thread going within here too... so Discuss on.

I am glad that someone is noticing the parallels between the National Socialists and Hamas. The premier Muslim cleric in Jerusalem in the 1930s and 1940s was a friend and student of Adolph Hitler. There are several photos of the two of them together, and the cleric visited Berlin several times.

I had never read about the Hamas Covenant before and find it interesting reading. I hope it doesn't lead to the destruction of the Palestinian people, but am afraid it probably will.

Palestinians give back $US30m in US aid

QUOTE
The Palestinian Authority has refunded $US30 million ($A40.37 million) in US aid, meeting Washington's demand to keep it out of the hands of a new government being formed by Hamas, a militant group on the US terrorist list.

The Bush administration says US law forbids it from giving assistance to a Hamas-led government because of the group's listing as a terrorist group.

This shows the US strong stance of not dealing with Hamas even though they are now ruling Palestine through democratic elections. It also opens up the question of whether other 'terrorist harboring' countries like Syria and Iran will decide to provide funding.

Do you think that these are attempts to starve Hamas out of power?

Is it a suttle way of removing a democratically elected regime the US doesn't like?

If Israel starves Hamas of tax revenue it is entitled, then Hamas will be forced to look at other avenues for funding.

Will other nations provide this, or will it come from coffers of terrorist organisations? I certainly hope it is not the latter.

Do you think that these are attempts to starve Hamas out of power?

I don't see it that way. Instead I see this as making a point that the US is done with dealing with terrorists, even if they are democratically elected.

Is it a suttle way of removing a democratically elected regime the US doesn't like?

Possibly. Democratically elected or not, the regime is still linked to terrorist activity.

If Israel starves Hamas of tax revenue it is entitled, then Hamas will be forced to look at other avenues for funding.

Will other nations provide this, or will it come from coffers of terrorist organisations? I certainly hope it is not the latter.

Unfortunately, the latter may become a reality, and countries like Syria and Iran will quickly move in to provide the funding and support that Palestine is losing from the US and Israel.

As a side note, I read about a pamphlet that was being distributed around Palestine, stating that an Al-Qaida leader will be revealing himself in Palestine and enforcing local Jihad. This, in my opinion, will be a real test for the Hamas regime to show whether they really want to promote peace, or continue on their quest, as stated in their covenant, to clear the area of non Islamic people.

Al-Qaida leader in Palestine soon to be revealed?
Terrorists' pamphlet demands non-Muslims vacate West Bank, Gaza

JERUSALEM - An al-Qaida leader as important as overall terror chief Osama bin Laden and the group's Iraq leader Abu Musab Zarqawi will soon reveal himself in the Palestinian territories and orchestrate local and global jihad from the area, according to a pamphlet distributed in the Gaza Strip and obtained by WorldNetDaily.

The pamphlet, signed by a group calling itself the Jaish al Jihad, or Army of Jihad, claimed to speak for al-Qaida. It warned all non-Muslims and foreign embassies to vacate the Palestinian areas within one month
