Obama: The worst negotiator ever?
According to reports, President Obama is considering engaging in 'negotiations' with the Taliban - but at the same time he's getting ready to drastically reduce troop levels in Afghanistan. Is Obama really so clueless that he doesn't see pulling out troops kinda hurts the United States 'negotiating' position? Or is it something more. And who thinks negotiating with terrorists is a good idea? Ref. Source 8
Pres. Obama is leaving and now that they are he is now going to let the military pursue some of the tactics they wanted? To what avail if they are leaving anyway?

Obama was a community organizer. That means he tries to make everyone happy or equally as disappointed (depending on how you look at it). This display is no different. He wants to use the troop drawdown as part of his accomplishments for the election. His commanders have politely said that this is more aggressive than they recommended, which in military speak is typically saying they don't agree with the plan but they cannot say so because he is the Commander and Chief of the Armed Forces. So, he lets them pick how they decrease the numbers...just so long as he gets to say there are less there.
I give him credit though. This allows him to stop or reverse his move. The commanders will undoubtably pick non-combat troops for the initial 10k reduction in July. This gives Obama claim to a decrease. Then it allows for up to 23k more in reductions...but doesnt state it actually has to happen. So, if the fighting continues, he can say he didn't soften the troops there with the reduction. If the fighting stays the same, he can pull a few more out be his Sept 2012 deadline (shockingly just a bit before elections) and still more than Bush had in the country at handover.
