Rooney Signs Man United Deal Through June 2019
Global Soccer / Football News
Less than a year after pushing to leave Manchester United, Wayne Rooney committed his long-term future to the struggling Premier League champion on Friday by signing a lucrative contract through June 2019. The 28-year-old forward's future at United has been uncertain since Chelsea tried to sign him last year, and he had only 18 months remaining on his current deal. But Rooney now looks set to end his playing career at the club he has been at since 2004 after signing a contract reportedly worth around 300,000 pounds ($500,000) a week. The deal makes Rooney the league's top earner, and softens the blow of potentially not playing against Europe's elite clubs next season.

Cardiff City-Tottenham Hotspur Preview
Global Soccer / Football News
Boosted by a dramatic European comeback, Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to get back on course for a top four challenge as they host Cardiff City at White Hart Lane on Sunday. Tim Sherwood's Tottenham (15-5-7) needed three second-half goals to get past Dnipro in the Europa League on Thursday, and did so, inspired by Emmanuel Adebayor and man-of-the-match Christian Eriksen. The young Danish midfielder didn't even feature as a substitute as the north London side crumbled to a hugely disappointing 1-0 defeat in the Premier League against Norwich last weekend, leaving the club six points behind fourth-placed Liverpool, but Sherwood is hoping the Europa League turnaround will inspire his squad to push for Champions League qualification.
