I have been a vegetarian for a year, and I was planning to continue until I had to move to Argentina (the "beef" country) and I knew it would have been unrealistic to keep it up.
I know many faithful LDS members who overuse meat to the point of being extremely unhealthy and overweight yet it seems for some reason that for most people (I include myself) we always need a little meat with our meals, I suppose that mostly has to do with the way we were brought up
Rather off topic, but... I just had a little meal where minced meat is used. I am not a fan of dairy products, they cause me to go straight to the bathroom. ![]() https://www.bordeglobal.com/foruminv/index....pic=4921&st=352 If you have any other questions, then you can use your intro thread for that. |

Announce that you are having a potluck activity at Church, but meat should not be included and you will get weird looks, maybe even strong complaints. |

I used to be a vegetarian, not anymore but my family and I eat little meat.
Rather off topic, but... Justin, feel free to explore all the threads we have in the LDS doctrine, if you have any questions, feel free to ask in your intro thread. |

Why are animal products (milk/eggs/etc) grouped with flesh? |
Thanks for your response.
Let me make sure I'm on the same page as you. Abstaining from food produced by animals (milk/eggs/honey) is a vegetarian thing but would not fall under the eat meat sparingly statement found in the scriptures. If I understand correctly, please explain why a vegetarian considers food produced by animals better left uneaten.
Before answering your second question I'll state that I think I must be addicted to meat. A meal isn't a meal unless it has meat. However, repentance is in the works ...... as soon as Christmas is over.
Ok, now that you've asked the question and I actually had to think about it, I realize I need to study more about it. If you go by the criteria the Lords states are acceptable times to eat meat then I guess most people probably eat too much meat. But I'll need to research it out in depth before committing to an opinion and being able to explain/support it.
I love discussion, so I'll let you know what conclusion I come to.

Update:
LDS_forever,
To answer your question, I tend to think most members eat too much meat, and too much fat, and too much sugar, and too much refined products, and etc.
I came to my conclusion after visiting the doctor and having blood tests done to see where my health markers are (needs improvement) and reading the book "Original Fast Foods" by James Simmons (a lot of what he says makes sense).
So this week I've been focusing on eating a lot less meat and a lot more fruits and vegetables. This weekend I'm going shopping for the right stuff and am going to give vegetarianism a try.
I'm convinced it's going to make a great improvement but gosh I'm going to miss the meat.
