Personally, I find not eating meat very easy. I will say I eat meat about once or twice a month and most times if it is even that much it is just because I am out with the family or some odd moment. It is not something I have to build up to... I just naturally do not find meat necessary and have grown used to it.
Responding in another Thread reminded me about this one and just wanted to Update my current mind on this issue to say that sometime ago I totally gave up meat now and will not be looking back. Therefore I am officially a vegetarian and will probably be a lacto-vegetarian at some point. I already do not eat any eggs at all save for those in things already prepared like cake.
I was wondering how many of you read this and what you all think about it. Is Pres. Packer referring to those who forbid others to meat or is he talking about those who choose a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle?
Interesting quote Liahona I think President Packer was referring to those who go into extremes and wishes others to do the same.
There are also a couple of quotes in the D&C Institute Manual:
ChicaSUD I think you're right (based on those quotes) however I wonder how many members will use this now as an excuse to eat meat every day and in every season? I think for our modern membership it is harder to give up meat than coffee or even alcohol!

Comments: We could take an example from the SDA organization on just that one point. They preach no eating of meat and a very healthy lifestyle. Now I know the D&C says for some that we should not refuse anyone to stop eating meat but it does not refuse from going without it either. As a church we eat way too much of the fatted calf!
