Mormons Eat Meat
Eat meat sparingly and the Lord

Bring back the days when priests would kill a lamb and sit down together and eat the whole thing! And that was a commandment! It will be nice to have something like that listed along with the Word of Wisdom huh? And those who were High priests could dine together once a month and partake of a feast of meats.

After Christ was crucified, animal sacrifice was no longer a point, Christ was supposed to be the last Sacrifice. The whole of the Hebrew Laws, and animal sacrifices pointed to the Christ to come.

One can eat meat, just sparingly, too much alters the body pH balance and as well carries disease and parasite potential. It can also be addicting in more then one way, just look at some people, they need their fix just like a drug or porn addict, not to say other foods cannot do the same thing to some.

Word Wisdoms say, it is not pleasing to God, to consume it, but if you do, sparingly, and then mostly in times of winter, cold and famine. That all sounds pretty specific to me, but leaves a leeway for run to operate in.

No, one will not be condemned for eating it in the Church, that come about from what happens to our own bodies over time. Joseph Smith taught, not to kill with need. Even Joseph Fielding Smith or Joseph F. Was greatly concerned about it, he often commented to his wife about, and strived to eat meat only sparingly. Like the Israelites during the 40 years in the wilderness, some were never happy, even after God gave them quail, they consumed it on their lusts and some paid with their lives, if my memory does not fail me.

Most of life in the Church, is about choosing the up hill road, not the down hill road. Everything is about learning to be masters of our selves and bodily desires; need I say more ?

If we are in tune with the Holy Ghost, we will know what is good and bod, and if and when, about everything in our lives. That is what saves us, we are held accountable for what we know and understand, thank goodness, but at the same time, man cannot be save in ignorance, and also many cannot be come Christ like and born again in ignorance.

The whole thing is, if one does not receive the truth when presented in Scripture or by the Holy Ghost, and put it to use, and share it, the less the Holy Ghost will enlighten ones mind; I just gave a Sacrament Talk on this idea and the Plan of Salvation. The more you receive and do it, the more comes to you, the less you do, the less you do, until you are left alone in the dark.

I accept that everyone has a right to eat or not eat, but like all light and truth in the Gospel, I don't have much patience for those who ignore it and say it does not exist. Not pointing at you, I just see that happening with people in and out of the LDS Church.

I don't see meat any more addicting than some of the other things we consume like dairy products, sugar, and fats. Meat is just a traditional aspect of the meal and one that I enjoy I might add. I sometimes laugh when people tell me they are vegetarians but then they woof down ten donuts and a bag of potato chips... Yeah that is really living up to the Word of Wisdom.

I agree, that seems to be the main failing of many who catch the Vegetarian craze. They stop eating meat and or all animal products and just consume more white lifeless death food. Life is in whole foods, highly process foods cannot sustain life. A person if lost in the wilderness can live longer on alone, then water and white crackers or etc. That is what evidence have found,in light planes have crashed in wilderness areas.

The highly processed foods and food chemicals are in part what the Word or Wisdom warms about, about men who lie in wait to deceive,to make a profit.

My first wife, when she adapted vegetarianism, she went the other way, dumped the meat, then ate even more cheese and diary, and eggs, which can be worse.

I consider a major percent of the processed sold in stores to be unclean, not kosher for a number of reasons.

The Spirit has shown me, we need to approach the Word of Wisdom, like approaching the Gospel, we need to pray how we can live, and the Spirit will do so, if we are open to it. But most eat the way they always do or did, without any thought to look for the positive truths that are hid; most don't go looking for them, until your health is in a bind. The problem is, lucky are those who realize that and find it before it is too late. Then some are like the Hebrews in the wilderness, they don't have the faith to look at the snake upon the staff.

I guess it was poetic that a snake was used, actually symbolic. In the past, symbolically, a plan serpent was Satan, an adorned Serpent was Jesus Christ, you see that in the Book of Mormon too. The staff to me, with a snake or serpent upon it, says to me, have the faith to look to Christ and live.

Realistically if you aren't living in an area where you can grow your own crops and other foods then processed goods and meats are not optional.

Yes, you are correct, choices are more limited. I see everything by priority, and in the end, if you are actually striving to live the Word or Wisdom, or etc laws of God. Blessing and tender mercies will be extended, just as when Lelhi and his family and friends were, as they had to often just survive on raw meat.

But normally in most areas, one can eat whole grains, avoid chemicalized foods, even if most of their veggies are canned. I eat as whole as I can, and frozen foods are actually more nutritious then fresh from the stores.

It is important not to over consume animal products, consume sparingly. If you eat whole foods, and you don't eat chemicalized meats and foods that destroy the good bacteria in your GI Tract, you can still extract a lot of what you need from the foods you eat, by way of the pro-biotic bacteria. I find often, it is not always what you eat that leads to better health, but what you don't eat or what you limit to sparingly. I eat some canned vegetables, lots of frozen, but grow most of my fruits.

If push came to shove, I had to survive if lost or etc, I would eat meat, if needed to stay alive. All goes by priority, as I mentioned, that is how I read the Word of Wisdom, to be eaten sparingly, mainly in times of cold, famine and excess of hunger. The Word of Wisdom, says to use prudence, prudence is taking out the craving and lust for food and eating by intelligence and Spirit; prudence, knowing what needs to be done and doing.

Glad you agree. If you want to go one step further you can also seperate the really bad meats from the ones that are better. For instance it used to be fish over land meats but there are so many metals and chemicals in the sea now that this is hardly true. Pork is worst than beef and chicken better than red meats.

Totally agree and very correct again. Ocean fish used to be prime, and now as you say, even government recommendations are, no more then 1 1/2 servings a week, or you will be intaking too much Mercury and etc metals.

Unless you know the land animal meat company, you can get growth hormones, antibiotics and etc. They are now finding that animals feed GMO foods, sprayed with Roundup, are severely mineral deficient. The report is, animal used to only need 1 to 2 tries to produce a birth, now with GMO feed animals, it can take 5 to 15 tries or more.

That adds a whole new complexity to what to be aware of, that is not so good for you. Eat GMO grains and veggies, and GMO meat, and you will be come deficient as well, and not able to maintain ones health, and even prone to diseases.

The further we reach into the last days, the more I see how the warnings of the Word of Wisdom applies in so many ways.

I agree, beef is better then pork, and chicken better then beef. I am so aware of Brigham Young's words, any Saint who eats swine meat, does not know the Gospel. He also said that, for now, beef is good, grown on our green grasses, Could look it up, but that is exact enough.

I knew a member years ago, if ate a little meat commercially grown, had problems, especially with gout, but if ate wild game meat, no problem. I have seen a movement back to grass feed beef, but the main commercial feed lots do not like it and are fighting it, that is their livelihood. Feed lots originally came into to being, to fatten up skinny cattle, that came off of a force cattle drive. They became a part of the system that has never gone away, sort of like leaches or parasites. And Federal codes get in the way, they control labeling of all food quality labels.

I remember back decades ago, a company wanted to produce a healthy catsup, because it did not have corn syrup and etc in it, they had to label it imitation Catsup; the sad thing, it was the more real food.
