Significance Of Dedicating Statues? Studies Doctrine Mormon
QUOTE (Ronan @ 8-Oct 09, 5:55 PM)
The whole new testament is about how Christ came to fulfill the law of Moses and introduce the higher law. Just look at any ordinance performed that only need the Aaronic priesthood (baptism & sacrament). It is always done word for word. All other ordinances that are performed under the Melchizedek priesthood are not as strict.Â
Ronan you're going around but still not justifying your statement:
QUOTE The 10 commandments were replaced when Christ was here by the higher laws.
Thats false doctrine, period. Nothing wrong with admitting when one is wrong you know what am I saying? Maybe you tried to say something else? But that statement is false. If you well remember, Jesus met a rich young man who wanted to gain eternal life (Mark 10:17-25)
QUOTE 17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
18And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
19Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.
20And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth.
21Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
22And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.
23And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
24And the disciples were astonished at his words. But Jesus answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
25It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Did Jesus tell him...well I'm here now forget about the 10 commandments...no he reminded him of it actually. You're confusing the ten commandments with the Mosaic Law.
I got this from lds.org:
QUOTE The Ten Commandments are eternal gospel principles that are necessary for our exaltation. The Lord revealed them to Moses in ancient times (see Exodus 20:1-17), and they are also referenced in whole or in part in other books of scripture (see Matthew 19:18-19; Romans 13:9; Mosiah 12:33-36; 13:13-24; D&C 42:18-29; 59:5-13; 63:61-62). The Ten Commandments are a vital part of the gospel. Obedience to these commandments paves the way for obedience to other gospel principles.
Like I said maybe you meant something else but the statement still wrong.
Now before the mods tell me I'm going offtopic, the dedication of statues is truly an interesting topic I mean why would be the purpose of dedicating a statue of the angel Moroni or JS you know what am I saying? Or even create them? Hmmmm I need to do a lil more research on this. Thanks Liahona for bringing up this topic.
