So Microsoft announced that their Windows 8 will go on sale Oct. 26 this year, anyone here planning on purchasing the upgrade or just sticking with what you have?

At first I had my doubts about upgrading to Windows 8. But after trying out the Consumer Preview and after I heard that the for upgrading was only $40 I am sure that I will upgrade to Windows 8.

I also have WP7.5 soos, for which I am developing apps, so I have some experience with the Metro interface which, to me, is a delight to work with.

The problem with any upgrade, specially with the Windows OS, is compatibility with existing software and hardware. There are still progs I will like to use on Windows XP that I could not make work on Windows 7 and it will probably get worst with yet another upgrade - Windows 8.

Anyone using the Windows 8 operating system? Can someone tell me how it is? Is the tile interface intuitive?

Well to be honest because of time constraints I declined to beta test Windows 8 but other testers have said that even though the interface takes a while to get used to, it is quite good for the touch screen devices. For the non touch devices, like most computers yeah?, there is an interface that you can revert to similar to Windows 7. It is very quick and responsive as it does not a lot of services running in the background. It should do quite while as an Operating System but as for me I will stick with Windows 7 for a while yet. My 2 cents smile.gif

The appeal of Win 8 is the touch pad usability which for me was more positioned towards mobiles BUT most people aren't switching just yet, there is even a lw suit right now against MS for the amount of space they promised in the surface hardware. I don't see this as being some big step up, we may need to look out for Win 9.
