Purchasing a gun for another can be highly questionable in my mind. If the person is not able to buy a gun then there may be a good reason for it. I will not buy anyone a gun even my own kids. When they are old enough they can prove that they are able to buy their own guns if they so chose.
While controlling guns may help it will not control the amount of guns out there already nor the access to them. It will just cost more but it won't be difficult to get.

I don't know if amending gun laws will prevent home based terrorist attacks because there are so many guns out there in the public. Everyone has always known America's right to bear arms to change that now will not change the thinking.

President Barack Obama will join Anderson Cooper on CNN at 8 p.m. ET Thursday for a live town hall on gun control called "Guns in America."
The President will discuss gun issues with Cooper and take questions from the audience.
The President has repeatedly expressed frustration with Congress' inability to pass new gun laws. He plans to meet Monday with Attorney General Loretta Lynch to discuss gun control and is expected to announce soon new executive action aimed at expanding background checks on gun sales. Ref. CNN
