Comments: Which is more important for Mormons, conformity to whatever is taught or truth? For instance is it more important that Mormon leaders are obeyed or that Mormons find out if what is being taught is truth and not just what the Mormon leader wants you to believe?

Here are a couple quotes & scriptures on the subject. To sum it up though if we blindly accept everything we are taught it's our own fault and no one else's if we end up being led astray. We are supposed to let God be our guide & Him alone as to what the truth is. It's good to be skeptical & think for ourselves when it comes to our own salvation. We shouldn't give up our freedom of thought in order to conform. Look at Martin Luther & others like him who were bold enough to speak up when they saw that things were not going according to God's word.

If a bishop counsels the people of his ward to swear shall they swear? No. If he counsels them to steal shall they steal? No. If he counsels them to lie and bear false witness shall they do these wrongs? No. If he teaches them to break the Sabbath shall they break the Sabbath? No. If a bishop or any other officer in this Church shall counsel the people to violate any of the laws of God, and to sustain and build up the kingdoms of this world, I will justify them, and the Lord will justify them in refusing to obey that counsel. It is important that we, as Latter−day Saints, should understand and bear in mind that salvation comes through the grace of God, and through the development in us of those principles that governed those righteous people before mentioned. The idea is not to do good because of the praise of men; but to do good because in doing good we develop godliness within us, and this being the case we shall become allied to godliness, which will in time become part and portion of our being. I will refer again to the Rechabites, and the strong temptation that they were under when invited to the Temple of God, and there, in one of the apartments, asked by Jeremiah, one of the greatest Prophets, to drink wine; or, in other words, to do something that they had been instructed by their father not to do. President Joseph Smith read the 14th chapter of Ezekiel--said the Lord had declared by the Prophet, that the people should each one stand for himself, and depend on no man or men in that state of corruption of the Jewish church--that righteous persons could only deliver their own souls--applied it to the present state of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints--said if the people departed from the Lord, they must fall--that they were depending on the Prophet, hence were darkened in their minds, in consequence of neglecting the duties devolving upon themselves, envious towards the innocent, while they afflict the virtuous with their shafts of envy. - Joseph Smith TPJS p.237
We may conclude, that though there were different dispensations, yet all things which God communicated to His people were calculated to draw their minds to the great object, and to teach them to rely upon God alone as the author it their salvation, as contained in His law. - Joseph Smith TPJS p. 60

Truth Conformity Mormons
I find the question disrespectful and intended to cause contention. We are expected to conform because conforming bring happiness. Our Church leaders are inspired men who have been chose by Heavenly Father to lead us in these latter days. That's TRUTH.
