Newt Gingrich

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich announced via Twitter that he is seeking the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

Gingrich, an 11-term former congressman from Georgia, becomes the first of the serious contenders to formally announce his candidacy.

Gingrich, a strong critic of President Obama, has been a polarizing figure in the past, pushing for the repeal of the health care law signed by Obama and gaining unwanted attention for his personal life.

The former college professor led the GOP effort to regain control of the House in 1994, dubbed the "Republican Revolution," and spearheaded the Contract with America. He was later disciplined by Congress in 1997 for ethics violations before he left as speaker after the 1998 midterm elections. Ref. CNN

I am not a big fan of Mr. Gingrich and I hope that we get better candidates than him in the race for the USA presidential office.

Gingrich Newt

Not just resigning - leaving "en masse" and essentially ending his bid for the presidency. After reading this article, I won't be supporting Newt if he regroups and tries again.

The interview: Glenn v. Newt

More accurately, it was Newt vs. Newt as Glenn played a series of past Newt quotes on the issues and the current frontrunner had to answer for them. He's known as an intellectual who enjoys a good debate -- did he acquit himself from himself? Take a listen and decide for yourself if Newt is a big government progressive or the right man for the job. Ref. Source 2

Planned Parenthood Attacks Newt Gingrich's Pro-Life Record

Newt Gingrich is the latest whipping boy for the Planned Parenthood abortion business as it has taken on Republican candidate Mitt Romney in recent weeks and now trains its sights on Gingrich as he has climbed in the polls.

In a new blog post on its political action web site, the abortion business called him a "featured chump," saying, "Gingrich may have a reputation for "big ideas," but his record on women's health can best be characterized as backward and wrong. With his rapid rise in the polls, he's catching our attention too-as a Featured Chump."

By replacing the world abortion with women's health, Planned Parenthood makes it look like Gingrich's longstanding pro-life record in Congress - he voted pro-life 98 percent of the time according to the National Right to Life Committee - is one of voting against women.

"During his 20-year stint in Congress, Newt Gingrich earned his anti-women's health stripes," Planned Parenthood claims. "Representative Gingrich cast 74 votes on reproductive rights, and all but two of them were anti-women's health - putting him on the wrong side of women's health 97 percent of the time."

Planned Parenthood complains: "If anything, Gingrich's position on women's health has gotten WORSE since he left office in 1999. Just a few weeks ago, Gingrich said he supports a federal "life at conception" amendment and thinks Congress should use its authority to "define life and therefore undo all Roe v. Wade for the entire country in one legislative action." Source 7

Gingrich Restates Pro-Life Views, Says Life Begins at Conception

After making headlines nationwide with curious comments in an interview in which many observers say he indicated he believes human life begins at implantation, Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has restated his pro-life views.

In a new statement the Gingrich campaign sent to LifeNews.com over the weekend, the former House Speaker says repeatedly that he believes life begins at conception, that he is pro-life and that he would implement a pro-life agenda immediately after being sown in as president if he becomes the GOP nominee and defeats pro-abortion President Barack Obama.

"As I have stated many times throughout the course of my public life, I believe that human life begins at conception," Gingrich said in the statement. "I believe that every unborn life is precious, no matter how conceived. I also believe that we should work for the day when there will be no abortions for any reason, and that every unborn child will be welcomed into life and protected by law."

"That is why I have supported, and will continue to support, pro-life legislation that not only limits, but also reduces, the total number of abortions, with a view to the eventual legal protection of all unborn human life," Gingrich continued. Ref. Source 3
