This is ridiculous! I can not believe they are charging multi-million dollar fines in these cases. With the economy being at such a low point, you'd think the government would actually care about the citizens and their lives.

I think that if you're going to download MP3s, then either the artist has to specifically offer it for free or you should have to pay, just like any other format. Downloading MP3s without paying and without the artist's permission is basically the equivalent of walking into a music store and stealing a large number of CD's, of course it's a crime in these cases!
