Goodness Gracious Me - BBC
What do you think about this TV comedy that focuses on people of Indian descent that live in Britain? To me they take certain things too far and at the same time they take a poke at reality? Maybe it is another way of sharing the struggles that Indians have in Britain?
I hate the show, I cannot stand it. I think some of their jokes are pretty cruel, not to mention they disrespect a lot the religion of other people. I do understand the concept behind it but I don't agree with making a show out of it. It is stupidity.
I haven't seen the show at all. I will keep an eye open for it.
Having lived in England, and being married to an English Rose, I can assure you that the humor is not intended to hurt. The British just have a very different sense of humor to anyone else in the world. If you have ever watched such shows as Keeping Up Appearances, Are You Being Served, To the Manor Born, or Red Dwarf you would know that the British poke more fun at themselves than anyone else. And they typically do it by exagerating the cultural oddities.
As you can guess, we absolutely love the British comedies.

I understand the British humor, the problem with this one is it is much to sexual in nature and I think that is why LDS_forever did not like it much, I do not like it either. This show makes 'Are you Being Served' look like kindergarden videos. When you do see it do tell if you agree or not.
What I don't like about it is that they make too much fun of cultural things just like Nighhawlk said, actually they're making fun of themselves (how Indians cope living in England) but having a different background I see that as an insult! it makes me mad everytime I see the show, it is annoyning...lots of sexual innuendos too. Not to mention that they make fun of sacred things too.
