Importance Of Character Abodes In D&D

Comments: Is there any real importance to having a specific home for your character in a village, town or city? For instance I know that fighters progress to having their own castle if they can afford it, but once they do will all scenarios now have to be built around that?

Dragons and Dungeons Abodes Character Importance

I do not believe anyone has to have a home to call their own. Granted there is always the character that will want a home and in my world there are some available. I let each character figure out what they want to do.
