Immigration Law No, this is not just about the USA, this happens anywhere and in any country. They are in: The restaurant business. Construction. The hotel industry. Agriculture. Can any of these function without Immigrants willing to do the job?

Journalists Covering Los Angeles Immigration March Assaulted by Police

The Los Angeles Police Department is coming under increasing criticism for violently crushing a largely peaceful immigrants rights march on Tuesday. Police dressed in riot gear fired 240 rounds of rubber and foam bullets as well as tear gas. Officers were seen on video clubbing protesters and journalists with batons. Overall, ten people -- including several journalists -- were taken to hospitals after being injured.

Here's an interesting item about Lou Dobbs, the longtime CNN anchor whose profile interview will be aired on 60-Minutes this Sunday.

QUOTE
Dobbs is against amnesty programs for illegal immigrants and the president's guest worker proposal, so Stahl wonders whether Dobbs thinks the government could deport all illegal immigrants. "I've never called for their deportation,"says Dobbs. "But at the same time, when this president and open-borders, illegal-alien-amnesty advocates say, 'You can't deport them,' my answer is, 'You want to bet?' because this is the United States. I think this country can do anything it sets its mind to," he tells Stahl. .... ....

.... The Congressional Hispanic Caucus accused Dobbs of being anti-Hispanic for these types of views. "I was asked if I'd ever eaten a taco before, for God's sake," says Dobbs, who has been married to a Mexican-American for 25 years. Hispanics have called for his job and Dobbs finds such criticism ironic because he grew up on a small farm and picked crops alongside migrants. "I am probably one of the few people in the debate who actually has [worked with migrants]. I've got the greatest respect for those folks," he tells Stahl.

This is an interesting move. Voters in Texas will decide today if they will approve or prohibit landlords from renting apartments to illegal immigrants.

QUOTE
They will be the first in America to vote on a regulation requiring apartment managers to verify that renters are U.S. citizens or legal immigrants before leasing to them. Minors and people 62 and over are exempt from having to prove their immigration status or citizenship. Families that include citizens and illegal-immigrant members could lease if they meet three conditions: they're already tenants, heads of households or spouses are legally in the U.S., and the family includes only a spouse, their minor children or parents.

If voters approve the ban, opponents plan to seek a restraining order to stop the city from enforcing it and try to get the case to trial...

If they actually do approve the ban, I'm all for it - and it's about time! I can't believe people are renting to illegals, anyway. There would be some training involved for the owners or their leasing people, but that can be done relatively quickly. Wish I could vote for that...

Thinking of liking illegals is very difficult because they will always keep coming. Two times before the government has legalized those here and they are thinking of doing it again. Paul Harvey mentioned the many thousands they get from the government in welfare, medical, food stamps, housing and so forth they get free, and allot of the crimes are committed by illegals and the government doesn't jail most just send them back to their home land. (that last for a short time) . Some places they don't speak English any more, and even on some of the packaging Spanish is the main language .
but I have been trying to be patient and think of the thing where they might be a great help in a war or troubled times.
Yet going around the streets I see so many places where they are looking for help it makes me wonder even more.

Immigrants - Love Them Or Hate Them?

QUOTE
Known for his fierce opposition to illegal immigration and the failure of the federal government to secure U.S. borders, [House Representative Tom] Tancredo has focused particular criticism on local governments across the country that have declared themselves sanctuary cities, refusing in varying degrees to allow law enforcement and city personnel to inquire about individuals' legal status. ... ...

... ... Tancredo's victory in the House comes on the eve of efforts by Bush and the Senate to revive debate next week on the administration's failed immigration-reform plan. He said the sanctuary-city amendment's passage indicates the House would defeat the current immigration bill if it passes in the Senate.

https://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/

Rep. Tancredo sheds a lot of light on the illegal immigration issues that the "Powers that Be" would like to remain in darkness. This idea of "sanctuary cities" is very real. The place where my parents used to live in the L.A. area has likewise become one. It was recently reported that the little city of Maywood has ordered a HALT to all checks on illegal immigrants.

QUOTE
The city of Maywood, California, details what that future might look like if an "enforcement-first" bill isn't passed by Congress. "Here is a city that has laid down and rolled over for illegals, just as the Senate is demanding the rest of us do," asserts Corsi. "Local services have been stretched to the breaking point, no one even knows who lives there or how many of the residents are here illegally, although it's likely more than half of the 50,000 residents." Aghast at the condition of schools and hospitals, taxpayers have fled, destroying the tax base.

Yet as "Minutemen" relates, far from working with federal authorities to curb the illegal influx that has overtaxed its services, city authorities have declared Maywood not just a sanctuary city but a 'safe haven," meaning that illegals can live there with impunity - at taxpayer expense. Provide the sort of "Z" visas that the Senate bill mandates, and at the flick of George W. Bush's pen, these illegal aliens would instantly receive many of the rights reserved for American citizens with few of the responsibilities, creating one of thousands of municipal welfare sinkholes that will in short order destroy local communities and the national economy.

https://www.webwire.com/

I spent a lot of time in that little town, as my folks lived there for nearly 30 years. This makes me sick, that the City government itself has taken steps to subvert law enforcement on illegal immigrants.

Quoted from President Calderon in his State of the Union address:

QUOTE
The Mexican government, he said, would continue to "energetically protest unilateral actions" of the U.S. Congress on the immigration front that he said "exacerbate the persecution of undocumented Mexicans in the U.S." He boasted that Mexican consulates in the United States have been fortified to protect the rights of millions of Mexicans living there illegally.

"Wherever there is a Mexican," he said, "that is Mexico."

This is inflammatory, to say the least.

Well, English is the national language of the US, but for certain parts in the US where the only language you hear spoken or see written is Spanish (with Mexican accent) he may very well be right.
