From some of the reactions here JB I think perhaps they make fun of us because we are just to relaxed and easy going. They may not be jealous of our politicians or military might but they seek our bacon and can not understand how we can be happy living in a country that by their standards is running amuck.

I think that is simular to the reasons why people in Ontario tell so many Newfie jokes.

To Yellowkife:I have never heard some of your statements about life north of 60. While it's true that alcholism is a problem, the fault lies with the individual, not the government. In treaties with our native people, they were given Free education, that includes university, or college. While any government isn't perfect, they are trying to help people who for the most part, don't want to be helped.
As for travel to Canada, it wasn't till the U.S. Requiered Canadian citzens to have passports for travel to the U.S. Did we require that of U.S. Citizens.

Comments: Why they make fun of Canadians? Maybe the same reason we make fun of Yankees - nothing better to do. Different cultures and different experiences can make people judgmental but not necessarily right.

Canadians are just north of the boarder so they will be likely targets just as the Mexicans are but I think of all the countries in the world we get along most with the Canadians and their culture and economy are more closely aligned to ours except for their homage to the UK royals.

Very true Mandy The US and Canada have much in common historically and politically. Though I think the younger generations relate more to the States then the 50 plus crowd due to the movie and music industry.

People my age and up also grew up saying prayer then singing god save the Queen and then the national anthem. Today we fight just to keep the national anthem.
