Name: Amang

Comments: I thought it was just karate but as I'm reading up I'm getting to understand there are different forms of karate such as Shotokan and Budokan, which is better?

Karate Styles Various

There are Many, some are traditional, others modern.
Most claim to have two common roots and a family tree of styles.
Some are famous, like Shotokan, Wado Ryu and Goju Ryu.
Others are rare such as Shorin Ryu and Shojuken Ryu.
They all have something to offer, some have higher stances and speed of movement, others have strength as their focus. The tradition is different in most. Wado Ryu has technique that resembles Ju Jitsu, Kyokoshinkai is famous for it's full contact fighting. They all have a similar grading system, and are recognized as Karate when you see them.
Budokan on the other hand means Martial Club or School in Japanese, and sounds like the name of a specific club and not the style the karate is based on.

For me there is never on good form. After awhile you kind of develop your own style because each person's body part is different. For instance the typical front kick in karate may not be as effective for you as a straight punch simply because you have short legs or your legs aren't as strong as your arms.
